Today the cadets have completed a bronze DofE training day which included navigation with map and compass training, nutrition training, how to pack an expedition rucksack and campcraft skills.
Well done to all cadets who attended. We look forward to seeing all your training come into practice in a few weeks form your expedition 🥾

Over the weekend, several of our cadets attended the Sector 3 Training Day at RAF Wittering, taking part in a range of activities and development opportunities alongside other squadrons from across the sector.

A huge congratulations to Cpl Korotko and Cdt Crofts who successfully completed their Bronze Radio Award, developing their knowledge and practical communication skills throughout the course.

Well done also to Cpl Witowska and Cdt Fjordarovs for completing their Blue Road Marching classification. Across the weekend they completed a demanding 12km march yesterday followed by a 15km march today, showing excellent determination, resilience, and teamwork throughout.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved and great to see our cadets continuing to challenge themselves, gain new qualifications, and represent the squadron so well. 👏

At the weekend, 8 of our cadets successfully completed their silver qualifying expedition around the Derbyshire area. They showed great navigation and campcraft skills and worked very well in their teams.

Today, we took part in a community litter pick, working together to help keep our local area clean and welcoming for everyone.

It was a great opportunity to give back, support the environment, and make a visible difference in our community. Every small effort adds up, and we’re proud to have played our part.

Today we took part in the annual Wing Field Day alongside , competing across a range of events including cyber, drill, first aid, leadership and space.

At final parade, we were proud to be announced as winners of the 2026 Training Award, the 2026 Sports Award, and the overall Auster Trophy.

An excellent effort from everyone at 2070 💪🏼

A special mention goes to CI Timson, who was formally recognised with an OC Wing Commendation for his actions during a medical emergency.

Over the weekend, Cpl Witkowska attended the Activity First Aid (AFA) course at 126 City of Derby Squadron.

Reflecting on the course, Cpl Witkowska said:

"Over the weekend I completed the Activity First Aid course where I refreshed my knowledge of key first aid procedures and took part in presenting and re-enacting a range of first aid scenarios. It was a great experience and I had the chance to meet other cadets on the course, making some new friends along the way. I would really encourage other cadets to complete their Youth First Aid and Activity First Aid courses when they can. I’m looking forward to bringing what I’ve learned back to the squadron and helping support first aid activities."

Well done to Cpl Witkowska for completing the course and developing valuable lifesaving skills. 👏

Over the weekend, cadets from 2070 Squadron volunteered their time at Millennium Green, lending a hand in the community garden 🌱

This is a monthly project that the squadron proudly supports, helping to maintain and improve the space for everyone in the local community. Thanks to the cadets' continued hard work and dedication, the squadron has now been gifted its very own 2070 garden plot to develop and care for.

We're looking forward to seeing what the cadets can grow and create in their very own part of Millennium Green!

Today, 2070 cadets and staff came together to proudly honour the founding of the Air Training Corps.
We reflected on the ATC’s history, its values, and the generations of young people it has inspired since its creation.
From developing leadership and teamwork to fostering a strong sense of service and community, the ATC continues to shape confident, capable young people.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and continues to give their time to support the next generation.
