🇬🇧 Battle of Britain Parade & Service 🇬🇧✈️

Today, cadets from 2070 (Glenfield) Squadron RAF Air Cadets attended the Battle of Britain Service at Braunstone Christchurch URC.

The service provided an important opportunity to remember the brave men of Fighter Command who took to the skies during the Battle of Britain in 1940, defending Britain at a time when the outcome of the war was far from certain.

We remembered not only the pilots who fought in the skies, but also the ground crews, observers, controllers and countless others whose dedication and sacrifice played a vital role in the Battle of Britain.

Our cadets were proud to stand alongside veterans and members of the local community to pay their respects and remember those who gave so much.

It is particularly meaningful to see our young people taking part in these occasions, learning about the history behind the uniform they wear and playing their own small part in keeping the memory of the Battle of Britain and those who served alive within our community.

A very proud day for 2070 Squadron. 🇬🇧❤️

🥾🌦️ Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Weekend! 🌦️🥾

What a weekend for a group of our cadets completing their Bronze DofE expedition! 🎒

They faced everything the British weather could throw at them — from rainy, wet conditions 🌧️ to beautiful sunshine ☀️ — but they kept going, supporting each other and showing fantastic determination throughout.

From navigating their route and carrying their kit to setting up camp and tackling the elements, the cadets demonstrated some brilliant teamwork, resilience, independence and leadership. 💪

A huge well done to everyone who took part. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves — you smashed it! 👏🎉

🎖️ THE HIGHEST CADET RANK! 🎖️

A huge congratulations to Cadet Warrant Officer Smith, who has successfully completed the interview process and achieved the highest rank available within the RAF Air Cadets — Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO). ✈️

This is an incredible milestone in CWO Smith’s cadet career and is a reflection of the hard work, commitment, leadership and dedication shown over the years.

The CWO role comes with great responsibility, acting as a senior role model and leader for fellow cadets. Following a successful interview, CWO Smith has demonstrated that he is ready to take on this challenge and continue developing as a leader.

👏 Congratulations CWO Smith on this fantastic achievement! We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to seeing what you accomplish in your new role.

A huge well done to our cadets who have successfully completed and achieved their BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork and Personal Development for Uniformed Youth Organisations! 👏

This qualification recognises the hard work, commitment and personal development our cadets demonstrate both within the squadron and through their wider RAF Air Cadets experience.

From working as part of a team and developing leadership skills to building confidence, communication and personal responsibility, our cadets continue to develop skills that will benefit them both inside and outside of cadets.

🎉 PROMOTIONS & A NEW NCO TEAM! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce a number of promotions within our NCO team! 👏✈️

A huge congratulations to:

⭐ Cadet to Corporal
Cpl Ashman, Cpl Cizovas and Cpl Croft

These promotions are a fantastic recognition of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by each of these cadets. They have all demonstrated the qualities needed to take on greater responsibility and leadership within the squadron.

With these promotions, we now have a new NCO team in place! We’re excited to see them take on their new roles, lead by example and support the younger cadets as they continue to grow and develop.

Congratulations to all of our newly promoted NCOs — we’re extremely proud of you all and can’t wait to see what you achieve in your new ranks! 💙

✈️ RAF Odiham Multi Activity Camp (MAC) ✈️

Over the past week, Cpl Korotko and Cdt Korotko have been at RAF Odiham taking part in an action-packed Multi Activity Camp.

The week was packed with fantastic opportunities and experiences, including:

🚁 A Chinook flight
🔫 Sectional visits around the whole base, including the Armoury, where they had the opportunity to fire blanks from a machine gun, the Control Tower, Hangars, 18 Squadron, Fire & Rescue, where they got to use the hose from a fire engine, MT and much more!
✈️ A visit to Brooklands Museum, including getting up close to and inside Concorde
🏐 Sports including swimming, football, cricket and volleyball
🧠 STEM and leadership activities
🫡 Drill and ceremonial practice
⛑️ First aid and survival training
🎬 Film and board game night
🎉 A camp party
🥁 And finally, a drill competition between the flights!

A huge congratulations to Cpl Korotko, who was awarded the Best JNCO Award for their efforts and leadership throughout the camp! 🏆👏

It sounds like both cadets had a fantastic week, taking part in new experiences, challenging themselves, developing their skills and making memories along the way.

Cpl Korotko and Cdt Korotko thoroughly enjoyed the camp and would highly recommend it to anyone considering attending next year!

📚 Investing in Our Cadets’ Future! ✈️

Tonight at 2070 (Glenfield) Squadron, Flying Officer Parker was on hand to help our cadets register for their BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Teamwork and Personal Skills for Uniformed Youth Organisations.

This qualification gives our cadets the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification while developing valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, confidence and personal development — skills that will benefit them both within the RAF Air Cadets and in their future education and careers.

A fantastic opportunity for our cadets to turn the skills they develop through their cadet experience into a recognised qualification. 🎓👏

A big thank you to Flying Officer Parker for supporting our cadets and helping them take another step towards achieving their goals! 💙

🌳☀️ A fantastic weekend at Glenfield’s Community Picnic! ☀️🌳

Staff and cadets from 2070 (Glenfield) Squadron RAFAC were delighted to have a stall at Glenfield’s Community Picnic in the Park at the weekend.

It was a great opportunity to meet and engage with local residents, chat about what we do at 2070 Squadron, and showcase the fantastic opportunities available through the RAF Air Cadets. ✈️💙

Our cadets did a brilliant job representing the squadron, speaking to members of the community and helping to spread the word about RAFAC.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and find out more! We loved being part of such a fantastic community event. 👏

Over the past week, Cpl Korotko, Cpl Witkowska, and FS Smith have been on Camp Viking II. This is the main PTS camp of the Central & East Region.

Below is an account of the week from FS Smith;

'Over the week, Cpl Korotko performed with the region band in both the concert and the march, playing the violin and the bell lyre.

Cpl Witkowska and I were on the Gold Space stream where we completed the syllabus and assessments to become qualified space instructor cadets, now being able to deliver blue and bronze space on squadron.

We were lucky enough to experience the solar eclipse, being in the space stream, by making our own eclipse viewers from cardboard boxes.

We also completed our bronze CREST awards in STEM, where we researched and tested firing rockets for the furthest distance.

Cpl Witkowska also achieved the best cadet award for the space stream.

Overall, we all highly recommend going on camps such as this as a great way to make new friends and further your cadet experience. '

⛺ Wing Fieldcraft Course 🌿

Our cadets and staff recently had the opportunity to attend the Wing Fieldcraft Course, taking part in a range of practical activities designed to develop their fieldcraft skills, teamwork and leadership.

From learning essential field skills to working together in challenging environments, the course provided a fantastic opportunity for our cadets to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence and put their skills into practice.

A huge well done to all our cadets for their hard work, enthusiasm and determination throughout the course! 👏💙

A big thank you to the staff and instructors who gave up their time to support and deliver such a valuable experience.
