Over the past week, Cpl Korotko, Cpl Witkowska, and FS Smith have been on Camp Viking II. This is the main PTS camp of the Central & East Region.

Below is an account of the week from FS Smith;

'Over the week, Cpl Korotko performed with the region band in both the concert and the march, playing the violin and the bell lyre.

Cpl Witkowska and I were on the Gold Space stream where we completed the syllabus and assessments to become qualified space instructor cadets, now being able to deliver blue and bronze space on squadron.

We were lucky enough to experience the solar eclipse, being in the space stream, by making our own eclipse viewers from cardboard boxes.

We also completed our bronze CREST awards in STEM, where we researched and tested firing rockets for the furthest distance.

Cpl Witkowska also achieved the best cadet award for the space stream.

Overall, we all highly recommend going on camps such as this as a great way to make new friends and further your cadet experience. '

โ›บ Wing Fieldcraft Course ๐ŸŒฟ

Our cadets and staff recently had the opportunity to attend the Wing Fieldcraft Course, taking part in a range of practical activities designed to develop their fieldcraft skills, teamwork and leadership.

From learning essential field skills to working together in challenging environments, the course provided a fantastic opportunity for our cadets to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence and put their skills into practice.

A huge well done to all our cadets for their hard work, enthusiasm and determination throughout the course! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™

A big thank you to the staff and instructors who gave up their time to support and deliver such a valuable experience.

Yesterday, cadets and staff from 2070 Glenfield Squadron had a fantastic time attending the Braunstone Town Fete! โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

It was a great opportunity to showcase what the Royal Air Force Air Cadets is all about, meet members of the local community and give people an insight into the opportunities, activities and experiences available to our cadets.

A huge well done to all our cadets and staff who represented the squadron so brilliantly throughout the day! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ‰ A First for 2070 Squadron! ๐ŸŽ‰

Congratulations to FS Smith, who has become the first member of 2070 Squadron to successfully achieve the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.

Over the past three months, FS Smith has worked hard to complete this nationally recognised qualification, developing valuable leadership and management skills that will support future education and career aspirations.

Here's what FS Smith had to say about the experience:

"Over the course of three months, I completed my Level 3 ILM Award in Leadership and Management. The qualification involved reflecting on my own leadership and management experiences while exploring the theories behind effective leadership. Completing the course has strengthened my UCAS application by earning me an additional eight UCAS points and has developed my understanding of a subject I plan to continue studying at university."

A fantastic achievement and a great example of the opportunities available through the RAF Air Cadets. Well done, FS Smith! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸคŸ Last night marked the start of an exciting new opportunity for our cadets as we began our Sign Language course taught by our very own Civ Com member!

Throughout the course, cadets will learn the basics of British Sign Language (BSL), develop valuable communication skills, and gain a greater understanding of inclusivity and accessibility within our communities.

Learning sign language is a fantastic way to build confidence, enhance teamwork, and help break down communication barriers. We are looking forward to seeing our cadets progress and develop these important life skills over the coming weeks.

Well done to everyone who attended the first session โ€“ a brilliant start! ๐Ÿ‘ And thankyou to Nikki for creating this opportunity for the cadets

It was an early start for some cadets and staff from 2070 today. Despite some rain here and there, 8 cadets managed to go in the Viking glider and pass their civil aviation authority flyer ID.

FS Smith reports 'We started with 2 circuits in the gliders early in the morning, giving us the opportunity to take control of the aircraft and perform some maneuvers. Afterwards, we joined the RPAS team. Starting with small indoor drones, learning the basics of flight, before moving outside where, using bigger drones, we completed the Blue RPAS syllabus, all passing.

Congratulations on the 8 cadets who passed their blue aviation wings.

Recently, several of our cadets have taken part in fantastic development opportunities across the RAF Air Cadets.

Congratulations to those who successfully attended the Silver Leadership Course, where they developed valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, planning and decision-making. Throughout the course, cadets were challenged with a range of practical leadership exercises designed to build confidence and prepare them for future leadership roles within the organisation and beyond.

We also had cadets representing the squadron on the Blue Drums Course, where they learned and enhanced their musical abilities, military drumming techniques, and ceremonial skills. The course provided an excellent opportunity to work alongside cadets from other units, improve performance standards, and gain experience within the RAF Air Cadets music programme.

These courses are a great example of the wide range of opportunities available through the RAF Air Cadets, helping young people develop new skills, build confidence, and make lasting friendships.

Well done to all the cadets who attended and represented the squadron with professionalism and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing them put their newly acquired skills into practice back on the squadron.

Over the weekend, several of our cadets attended the Sector 3 Training Day at RAF Wittering, taking part in a range of activities and development opportunities alongside other squadrons from across the sector.

A huge congratulations to Cpl Korotko and Cdt Crofts who successfully completed their Bronze Radio Award, developing their knowledge and practical communication skills throughout the course.

Well done also to Cpl Witowska and Cdt Fjordarovs for completing their Blue Road Marching classification. Across the weekend they completed a demanding 12km march yesterday followed by a 15km march today, showing excellent determination, resilience, and teamwork throughout.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved and great to see our cadets continuing to challenge themselves, gain new qualifications, and represent the squadron so well. ๐Ÿ‘
