This , we are introducing you to a few of our Volunteers. Meet John.

John has been a Health Promotion Volunteer since 2023. Throughout his journey, he’s been involved in many different roles, from helping us run information stalls, to doing outreach work and even performing rapid HIV tests. He became one of our Trustees in 2024, and has been involved in the overseeing and managing Trade every since.

Last Chance to contribute to our survey on cervical screening! (we have extended the deadline so this will be live over the weekend and will close on Monday morning)

We want to hear from LGBTQ+ folks with a cervix in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland - especially trans masculine people and cis q***r women.

Please could you help us by filling out this online survey by the 5th of June!

Find the survey through the QR code and here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/pGbRRXjc9t

The information collected through these surveys will help us shape the ongoing work we are doing at Trade with a desire in supporting more trans and q***r inclusive cervical screening. We really want to hear from people!

This , we are introducing you to a few of our Volunteers. Meet Jayden:

"Hey Folks, my name is Jayden and I am an asexual enby/trans masc volunteer with Trade.

I first joined Trade as an attendee of some of social groups hosted by Trade, like NeuroQueer and Transductive Groups, at a time where I was fairly new to the city and unsure of where I would be welcomed.

Through these groups, I learnt more about the types of activities I could get involved in as a volunteer such as running stalls at outreach events like international women's day, redesigning health promotional materials and trans advocacy projects.

Volunteering with Trade helped me find a sense of purpose as well as a stronger understanding of my own identity while helping other people in the LGBTQIA+. Over time, volunteering has helped me become more confident working in teams with other volunteers and speaking to members of the public. It has also help me form strong friendships with other volunteers and develop a community for myself both inside and outside of Trade. "

This , we are introducing you to a few of our Volunteers. Meet Amanda (She/They) Volunteer Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.

"I originally started as a volunteer researcher and then decided to return to practicing therapy. I started volunteering as I wanted to be part of my community as there isn’t a specific space designated for the community in Leicester like other places I have lived, it can feel incredibly isolating.
It’s important to me that the community has access to therapists who have LGBTQIA+ people as part of their day to day lives so you don’t need to introduce someone to your identity or lifestyle. It’s good to have a therapist who understands your identity may or may not be related to your trauma, that q***r joy exists, despite any pain the community may be facing.

If you’re feeling isolated volunteering is a great way to get to know others, and find your community in Leicester. Volunteering with Trade has also helped me continue to grow rather than stall as a person, and I’m now pursuing my diploma in animal assisted interventions.

Anna Nicole (dog) attends Trade and volunteers as resident Diva extraordinaire in socials."
