𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐌𝐏 𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐲

Cllr Ande Savage and I had a meeting with residents about the ongoing nuisance caused by HMP Fosseway

I wrote to the prison and raised their problems and this is the response I got:

🔶They have said that they are getting more complaints of noise to the complaint line due to the warm weather. They say that sometimes the Residential Houseblock Managers say that there is no noise playing and this may be confusion as to the directon the music is coming from!
🔶However they say 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐲, 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.
🔶 They say that staff can hear the music being played when they are on the landings so they would be able to tell if the music is from the cells.
🔶There is no air conditioning on the Residential Houseblocks and windows only open slightly. The windows do have to be able to be opened, to treat the prisoners with some dignity. They cannot keep windows totally closed.
🔶The prison continue to follow the following process for cells playing loud music:
1. Power is turned off to allow a conversation with the resident. It is turned back on once this conversation has taken place.
2. If the above is ignored or loud music played from the same cell again the stereo will be removed and a conversation had with the houseblock and if the speakers are above the allowed wattage the equipment will be removed and put in storage.
3. A message has been circulated to all prisoners advising them about the distress the loud music causes neighbours.
🔶Regarding the frosted glass to prevent houses being overlooked from the prison, the cost has been approved and work will begin as soon as possible.
🔶The prison staff have asked the MOJ how the work to demolish the dangerous bridge over the railway is progressing and are awaiting their response.
🔶Neighbours told us that they sometimes see three drones a day over the prison, however the staff there say only had 3 drone sightings in the past 3 months. These are reported to the police and if they intercept a dropped package, they are handed over to the police.

We are getting excited about the Leicestershire County Show at the end of the month!! Not only have we been busy making sculptures for our craft stall, But we are also excited about having a good couple of days out at well-organised event🥳😁 Hope to see you there it's always good to meet new people and old friends 😊so come and say hello to Marina & Ant and not forgetting our head of our security "Cracker"🐺🐕

Public Information/Consultation Drop in Meeting, Local Government Reform.

There will be a Public Drop in Meeting on Wednesday 9th September, between 6.00pm and 9.00pm,at the Thythorne Sports and Community Centre, Horsewell Lane, Wigston. LE18 2HZ.
Please come along to give your concerns/opinions regarding the expansion of Leicester City that will incorporate the Whole of Oadby and Wigston, parts of Blaby, Harborough and Charnwood into the City Boundary, thus abolishing the existing Councils. We welcome your thoughts and opinions on this and will provide information on what this means for the People of Leicestershire.
Oadby and Wigston Cllr & Deputy Leader of the Council Lee A Bentley will be hosting this event.
