Actively involved in training staff, the Centre for Fun and Families works alongside staff of statutory and voluntary organisations, ensuring the families receive the guidance and support they need. The centre has a range of resources available that are uniquely designed and pioneered to the charity’s aim, including, booklets, video and audio material, training packs and parents guides. In 1995, t
he Centre published two books, Promoting Positive Parenting and Promoting Positive Parenting of Teenagers, which are both available from the website and from the Centre itself. With the primary objective, to put the fun back in families, Centre for Fun and Families, assists and supports parents, carers and teenagers who are experiencing behaviour and communication difficulties within their family lives. This is achieved through the practice of three uniquely developed, award winning, group work programmes that help, both parents and teenagers to find positive solutions to their difficulties. Pioneered by the Centre, the group work programmes target three specifications and stages of parenthood and childhood.
- Fun and Families groups, for parents/carers of children aged 3-11
- Living with Teenagers groups, for parents/carers of teenagers
- Grounded groups, for young people aged 11-16 years
Promoting a successful application of unique group work programmes, the Centre for Fun and Families is geared to help parents and carers understand how children and young people learn, and how behaviour difficulties can be reduced in practice.
