Our Whetstone group has had a really busy month.
First they went on a Cream Tea Mystery tour on the 12th August with Swift Valley Coach Travel again, for the third year running. This time they went to St Ives in the Huntington district of Cambridge where they had time to look around before having a lovely cream tea at the Slepe Hall Hotel.
On the 18th some of them joined the Earl Howe group when they went to Whitemoors Antiques Centre & Tea Rooms and the The Battlefield Line
Then on the 19th August they went for lunch at Jenno's Coffee House at Everards Meadows before having a lovely walk around the meadows then had coffee and cake back at Jennos.

All of our members can go to any of our events, even if you are on holiday, if there's an Oddfellow's group near you , you can go to their events too!

Some of the Earl Howe and Open Hand Lodge members enjoyed a trip out to the Whitemoors Antiques Centre & Tea Rooms this week. They had a look around the centre before having a lovely lunch at the tea rooms there.
In the afternoon they went on to the The Battlefield Line at Shenton. They went on the train to Shackerstone where they had coffee and cake before travelling back. They all had a really enjoyable day, especially the train buffs who went and had a look in the sheds at the station!

Our second boat trip with the@Peter Le Marchant Trust took place on the 6th August and was just as great as the first trip in July. This one went from Loughborough to Mountsorrel. There were 26 members from all over the district including two members who had just joined. They had lunch at the The Waterside Inn, Mountsorrel which was lovely before having another relaxing ride back to Loughborough. The crew as always were were great fun and looked after us all brilliantly.
We have already booked for next year, so if you missed out this time, then keep an eye out for next years dates.

We had our first boat trip of the summer when a group of members embarked on the Peter Le Marchant Trust boat in July. They had a nice relaxing trip from Loughborough to Normanton and had lunch at the The Plough at Normanton On The Wolds. The weather was extremely hot but they managed to keep cool inside, although some of the sun seekers did enjoy sitting out on the front of the boat.
They had a raffle on the way back in aid of this years chosen charity which is Leicester Musical Memory Box
One of our younger members came with her family, who are also members and got to have a go at steering the boat!

Every month the Earl Howe members enjoy a meal out in and around the Coalville area.
This month some of the members and their families enjoyed a lovely meal out at the Bulls Head Abbots Oak, Its great that in the school holidays that we get to see some of our younger members coming along too.
Next month however, they are going out for lunch, but making a day of it. They are going to the Whitemoors Antiques Centre & Tea Rooms on the 18th August. They are going to have a look around the antiques and perhaps bag a bargain before having lunch at the tea rooms there. In the afternoon they will be having a trip on the The Battlefield Line train from which goes from Shenton to Shackerstone and back.
