What a blessed and beautiful day in Leicester it was testerday! 🧡🙏
This is Auntie B, just so happy to be out in the community for the wonderful Nagar Kirtan celebrating Guru Nanak Ji's Gurpurab.
It’s so moving to see the procession, led by the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, making its way from Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara to Guru Nanak Gurdwara on Holy Bones.
The spirit of Seva (selfless service) is everywhere! So many wonderful food stalls and hot and cold drinks being served free to everyone. It’s a lovely, joyful atmosphere.

A truly powerful morning at Victoria Park. People from all backgrounds, standing side-by-side in harmony to remember them. Sharing a few more photos from Leicester's deeply moving service.

Living in a wonderfully diverse and vibrant place like Leicester means we have the privilege of sharing in many rich cultural celebrations. It also gives us a fantastic opportunity to practice empathy and respect, which are the cornerstones of our united "One Leicester Community."

Part of being a strong, multicultural community is being mindful of how our celebrations might affect our neighbours. As this kind poster reminds us, loud fireworks late at night can be genuinely difficult for many—including those resting for work, families with young children, and residents with health sensitivities.

This isn't about dampening the joy of the festival; it's about enhancing it by ensuring everyone feels respected. A simple act of kindness, like concluding fireworks by 11:00 PM, is a powerful way to show we care.

This is what building a truly inclusive and considerate community looks like in practice.
Please share this message of thoughtfulness and mutual respect. Let's work together to make this a joyful, peaceful, and kind festival for all of Leicester.

Parents: Are you worried about your children's mental health? Social media is popularising complex issues like gender identity as "cool trends" to teens who are already confused by puberty. This online pressure can lead to tragic consequences.

Please, talk to your children today. Ask what they're seeing. Warn them about online trends versus real life. Remind them it's okay to be confused and that you are their safe space. Stay connected.

A heartfelt message from our very own Auntie B, Community Representative in Leicester! ❤️

She's sharing some really important thoughts on how we, as parents, can best support our children through the pressures of smartphones and social media. In a world full of 'trends' and complex topics like gender dysphoria, our kids need our guidance more than ever.

Read Auntie B's full statement in the image above. Let's start these crucial conversations and ensure our children know they have a safe space with us.

The strength of a community is its people.
Here in Leicester, we know the importance of coming together, respecting our differences, and building a shared future. We believe in working together, combining our unique heritage and knowledge to make our city a better place for everyone.
This spirit is officially recognised on a global scale. We respect and applaud De Montfort University for their pioneering role—they were the very first university to be given a global hub for a UN Sustainable Development Goal. After working on SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, they are now the hub for SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
This powerful acknowledgment shows how we are continually building on our strong foundations of peace to create a truly inclusive and sustainable city. This is what a community that truly works together looks like.

Still buzzing from "Indigo" at Leicester Curve! A massive thank you to Donna Elliott for the wonderful invitation. This show was simply brilliant, touching on crucial themes of family, autism, and Alzheimer's, and highlighting the power of intergenerational connections. It's a beautiful reminder of the joy art and love bring. Theatre is so important for our community – it connects us to powerful stories and offers an unmatched shared experience. Don't miss out on live theatre! Check out my interview on Curve Theatre's channels for more.

A truly special moment unfolds as I reflect on my journey. It was at Nirmala’s Chai & Chat that I had the privilege of sharing my experiences in the Police Service with Andrea Malam. As a single mother entering a traditionally male-dominated field, my path has been driven by a deep commitment to helping abused women and men.

Andrea, recognising the essence of breaking barriers in my story, extended a heartfelt invitation to contribute to her powerful book, "Bias Breakers." What made this even more meaningful was her dedication to donating all proceeds to my passion project, "Little Dreams Around the World," supporting children in need.

Agreeing to share my story came at a poignant time, shortly after the passing of my beloved husband, Upkar Singh Mahal. This opportunity became a part of my healing, a way to express grief while looking forward to honouring the promise I made to him: to be his shining star, not just a typical widow.

And so, here I am, dedicated to serving my community and the Police Service, continuing to inspire and be inspired. ❤️
