It’s always great to see our animal visitors paying such close attention to our guidance… even if they perch right on top of the sign to read it! 🤭🕊️

📷 A huge thank-you to Ridvan Ertug for capturing and sharing this brilliant moment with us. 💚

We’ve been sent the loveliest little grebe photos! 🐦💦

From snacking on impressively large fish to happily bobbing around the ponds, it’s certainly living its best life.

As winter sets in, now is a great time to make sure they recieve the right food.❄️

🫛What to feed: seeds, oats, suet/fat balls, mealworms and chopped fruit all provide a welcome energy boost.

🍞What to avoid: bread, salty foods, mouldy leftovers, and anything processed as these can be harmful even when birds seem eager to take them.

Thank you to everyone who shares their wildlife moments with us. Please keep them coming;email your photos to us at: [email protected] 📸💚

We're sad to report that yesterday we had to deal with a young deer that had been injured following a dog chase.

We apologise to any visitors who witnessed this and may have been distressed by it. This is a stark reminder as to why dogs must be on leads in the lower park and under control at all times in the upper park. Dog owners not complying with the Public Spaces Protection Order will be fined.

Thank you for your understanding.

🌿Essential Ash Dieback Works Underway - Swithland Wood🌿

Visitors to Swithland Wood may notice ongoing tree works over the coming weeks. These works are essential to protect the long term health of the woodland as we continue to manage the effects of Ash Dieback.

By removing affected trees, we can prevent pockets of the disease from spreading, whilst also opening up the woodland canopy. This extra light reaching the woodland floor encourages a richer variety of plants and natural regeneration to thrive.

In some areas, if needed, we’ll also be replanting with native species such as lime, elder, and hazel to help support the woodland’s resilience and biodiversity for the future.🌱
