Last Wednesday, our Inspire group discussed what expectations they have of each other, the volunteers and the staff at FOCUS. This practice ensures everyone involved with FOCUS knows what is required of them and each other, to make the organisation a space for everyone.

Through open and respectful conversation, they established the behaviours and responsibilities all would uphold, to ensure everyone is respected, cared-for and understood. From respecting each other's needs and ways of learning, to ensuring the music playlist is to everyone’s taste.

Together, they laid down their rules and expectations lists and signed it, agreeing to abide and stand by them.

Get ready for 2 weeks of FREE activities and field-trips for young people aged 13-25. This includes our 2-day residential and Movie-Day trip to Beaumanor Hall!

HEADS UP! We have spaces for an upcoming charity run!
The Nottingham Running Festival 10K and Half-Marathon events are taking place on Sunday 30th August. That gives you 2 months to get practising and fundraising in time for the big day!
This run will take you through the beautiful Colwick Country Park and its stunning lakes.

Sign up to run for us and get a discount on us if you can raise £200 or more.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED (aged 18+) to join us on this year’s FOCUS Does Summer scheme!
You’ll be working hands-on with our staff and other volunteers to deliver our summer scheme’s activities and field-trips, as well as supporting and motivating our young people.

We’re looking for people with a can-do attitude, and an ability to empathise with young people from all backgrounds.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at our young people’s final preparations for the Leicester Riverside Festival last weekend.

The Inspire group learned about the nitty-gritty of setting up, including coordinating how they'll make the most of our plot, and managing what they need to bring with them.
They even had some final practice on setting up their stall, including the FOCUS gazebo.

From the hands-on experience, they really got to understand the logistics of taking part in big community events like the Riverside Festival.

Last Thursday, our Facing the Future group donated a number of sleeping bags and mats to The Bridge – Homelessness to Hope.

The donation reflects the group's commitment to giving back to the local community. It was a valuable opportunity for young people to see how even small acts of kindness can make a real difference to the lives of others.

We believe that strong communities are built when organisations work together and support one another. We are proud to be able to contribute to the fantastic work that local charities like The Bridge do every day to help those in need.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the donation possible. It was a meaningful way to end the half-term holidays.

Leicester Riverside Festival - Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 June 2026

Leicester’s biggest free arts festival is back, right in the heart of the city for a weekend bursting with music, food, arts, family fun and vibrant waterside activity.

This year’s event will feature longer opening hours, a new location for the main stage and a whole host of interactive activities.
FOCUS will be joining the festivities, with tons of flower-themed arts and crafts fitting this year’s theme of ‘Bloom’.
