At VALUES, we believe that one size definitely does NOT fit all! 💜

We’re not about putting everyone into the same activities, following the same timetable or simply filling time. We’re about creating meaningful, enjoyable and purposeful days built around the people we support. 🥰

Every person who attends VALUES has their own bespoke weekly rota, choosing activities based on what they enjoy, what they want to learn, the skills they want to develop and sometimes… simply what they fancy doing! 😍

🍰👩‍🍳 BAKING, COOKING & REAL-LIFE SKILLS! 👨‍🍳🥘

Our cooking and baking sessions at VALUES are about so much more than making something yummy! 💕 They’re a fantastic opportunity for the people we support to build independence, confidence and everyday life skills in a fun, practical way.

From baking delicious sweet treats 🍪🧁 to cooking up everyday meals 🍝🥘, we’re learning how to follow recipes, measure ingredients, use kitchen equipment safely and work together as a team.

But we also take the learning beyond the recipe! 🛒💷

We talk about:
✨ Where our food comes from
✨ What different ingredients are and how they are used
✨ How much food costs
✨ How to budget for meals
✨ Where to find bargains and compare prices
✨ Making choices about what we buy
✨ Using what we already have rather than wasting food

And one of the best parts? Our kitchen works like a real home kitchen! 🏠❤️

We use our own food stores and ingredients just as you would at home, meaning the people we support get to practise skills in a realistic, everyday environment.

It’s about learning skills that can be taken beyond VALUES and into everyday life — building confidence to make meals, make choices, manage money and become as independent as possible. 🌟

And yes… there are definitely some tasty rewards along the way! 😋🍰

Here at VALUES we are apart of the Great VAL Family and this years VAL Awards have its finalists!

The VAL Awards were established in 2019 and have grown to become one of the region’s most anticipated celebrations of community spirit. Each year, the awards recognise the individuals, groups and organisations who give their time, skills and energy to support others and help strengthen communities across Leicester and Leicestershire.

From grassroots community projects and inspiring volunteers to established charities and organisations delivering vital services, the finalists showcase the incredible contribution of the voluntary sector and the difference it makes to people’s lives.
