Congratulations to our colleague Tina from Action Deafness Care and Support team, who received a Highly Commended Oxfordshire Hero Award at the Oxfordshire Care Awards 2026 ✨

"A driving force in shaping specialist and complex care provision...goes above and beyond to remove barriers, striving to promote independence, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement. One service user, had not received support from a BSL-fluent worker in >20 years. His communication was limited, and opportunities for self-expression, minimal. She transformed his ability to connect with others: he now uses a wider range of vocabulary, engages more confidently, and expresses his needs more clearly – an extraordinary improvement directly linked to Tina’s specialist skill, persistence, and belief in his potential."

β€œI was honestly shocked to learn I had been chosen. It was such a wonderful surprise. I don’t feel like a hero; I simply love my job and am delighted to support our clients’ needs and happiness.” - Tina

A fantastic achievement!
