Tonight we are joining the worldwide , to remember all babies gone too soon.

These clips are from members of our maternal mental health service, who work with local families who have experienced pregnancy and baby loss.

To anyone who has lost their baby, please know that we are here to support you if and when you need us.

You are not alone and you and your babies are forever in our hearts. 💙🩷

Our service is again very busy this Thursday morning, despite the best efforts of our staff and volunteers working incredibly hard across the East Midlands.

We are sorry to patients who may be waiting longer than we would like for an ambulance response - we are doing everything we can to get to you as fast as possible.

Please help us by only calling 999 in a life-threatening emergency.

Tomorrow is the Wave of Light event; an international day of remembrance held annually on October 15.

It helps to create a safe and supportive environment to remember lost pregnancies and babies who died too soon, while also reminding participants that they are not alone in their grief.

To join the virtual Wave of Light, you can take a photo of your candle and post it to Facebook or Instagram using at 7pm local time.

Alternatively, there are several local displays and events taking place in person, including the Babyloss Support Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland service. The event takes place at 6.15pm at The King’s Centre, 56 Bull Head Street, Wigston, LE18 1PA, with a service followed by the lighting of candles at 7pm.

We are so grateful for the local services and charities we work with that create these spaces for remembrance and connection. 💙🩷

It can be hard to know what to do or what to say to someone who is going through, or has experienced, baby loss.

The most important thing to remember is that there is no, one right way to support a bereaved loved one. Try to aim for presence rather than perfection. Showing up for them means a lot.

Our maternal mental health service has put together their tips on what to say and how you can help someone who has experienced baby loss.

Please share or save if you think these might help you or someone you know.

Today we are sharing more about the work of the bereavement midwife role. These midwives from Leicester's Hospitals work closely with our maternal mental health team here at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust to support those who have experienced the loss of a baby, either during pregnancy, childbirth or soon after birth.

Services from across the two NHS trusts, along with local charity organisations, work together to try and help people to access the support they need.

Look at our post from earlier in the week for more information on the various local and national organisations that can offer other support. 💙

Meet Colette. She is one of our peer support workers, who is working in our maternal mental health service.

This Baby Loss Awareness Week, she talks a little bit about how her role is helping families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who have been affected by baby loss.

Her key message? ‘You are not alone’.

It can help to talk. Look at our other post for information on the various local and national organisations that can offer other support. 💙

This World Mental Health Day, let's talk, listen, and support better mental health together.

The 2026 theme, "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change," reminds us that conversations matter most when we truly listen to people's experiences.

If you're 18+ and struggling with your mental health, Neighbourhood Mental Health Cafés across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland offer a safe, welcoming space to talk, find support, and access practical advice from trained staff.

Walk in. No judgment. No pressure.

Baby Loss Awareness Week begins today (Friday 9 October), running until Thursday 15 October 2026.

Over the next few days, our maternal mental health service will be sharing information about how to access local support, ways you can remember and honour babies who were lost too soon and how we can support those who have been impacted by baby loss with compassion.

This Baby Loss Awareness Week, we want to acknowledge families affected by loss.

Please only engage with the week as much or as little as you want to.

It’s easy to assume a closed door means a closed mind. But young people tell us a different story. 💬

Many young people do want more open and honest conversations with their families about mental health; they just feel everyone could use a little more support with how to start them.

It’s not a lack of caring. Sometimes, it’s a lack of the right tools.
➡️ Give them space to talk without pressure.
➡️ Listen without feeling like you need to have all the answers.
➡️ Remember that being available and approachable can make it easier for them to come to you when they’re ready.

is a safe, anonymous app where young people can talk about anything that’s on their mind and get support from an age-banded peer community.

If you, or someone you care about, need urgent help for mental health:
📞 Ring 111 and select option 2
