Hinckley & Bosworth Community Houses

Hinckley & Bosworth Community Houses The Community House Project was developed through the Community Safety Partnership.

It was established due to the high levels of crime and disorder, anti-social behaviour and social exclusion suffered by the residents of Earl Shilton. The project was launched in September 2001 and has proved very successful in supporting and helping its local community and bringing a sense of pride back into the area.

๐ŸŒŸ Volunteersโ€™ Week: Thank You to Our Warm Welcome Heroes ๐ŸŒŸ
This Volunteersโ€™ Week, weโ€™re celebrating and saying a huge thank you to the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and compassion to Warm Welcome venues across Hinckley and Bosworth ๐Ÿ’›

Recently, 40 group leaders and volunteers came together at the George Ward Centre in Barwell to celebrate achievements and share ideas at the third annual Warm Welcome event โ€” a true reflection of the passion driving this initiative.

Figures show:
๐Ÿ‘ There were over 25,000 visits to Warm Welcome sessionsโ€ between October 2025 and March 2026
๐Ÿ‘ More than ยฃ55,000 in support was distributed via the UK Shared Prosperity scheme funding
๐Ÿ‘ 138 sessions every week offered warm, safe spaces
๐Ÿ‘ There were 6,396 episodes of households receiving support
๐Ÿ‘ 478 volunteers gave an incredible 20,000+ hours of their time

Warm Welcome venues are about so much more than warmth โ€” they are places of connection, dignity and belonging, helping to reduce isolation and strengthen communities.

As Cllr Michael Mullaney said, these spaces bring people together and help residents feel part of something bigger โ€” and thatโ€™s down to the kindness and commitment of our volunteers.

๐Ÿ’ฌ To every volunteer: thank you for the difference you make every single day. Our communities are stronger because of you.

Weโ€™ve been busy creating some seriously delicious dishes, and every session is something we look forward to. Itโ€™s not just about the cooking โ€“ itโ€™s about coming together, prepping, sharing meals, and enjoying great conversations along the way.

Our community houses continue to play a vital role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of residents, with a strong, consistent focus embedded across all activities we deliver.

Mental health support is at the heart of everything we do. Through our craft sessions, individuals are provided with a safe and creative space to express themselves, reduce stress, and build confidence. These sessions encourage mindfulness, improve mood, and help reduce feelings of isolation.

Our cooking groups offer more than just practical skills; they create opportunities for meaningful social interaction, routine, and a sense of achievement. Preparing and sharing food together fosters connection, promotes healthier lifestyles, and supports positive mental wellbeing.

In addition, our regular social groups provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where residents can build relationships, share experiences, and feel part of a supportive community. These groups are key in reducing loneliness and improving overall emotional resilience.

Across all sessions, staff and volunteers remain attentive to individual needs, offering signposting and informal support where required. The consistent presence of these activities ensures that mental health support is not seen as a separate service, but something that is naturally integrated into everyday community engagement.

Overall, the community houses continue to provide a holistic and proactive approach to mental health, ensuring residents feel supported, connected, and valued at all times.
