The Community House Project was developed through the Community Safety Partnership.

It was established due to the high levels of crime and disorder, anti-social behaviour and social exclusion suffered by the residents of Earl Shilton. The project was launched in September 2001 and has proved very successful in supporting and helping its local community and bringing a sense of pride back into the area.

🌟 Slow Cooker Session at Peter and Ann Hall Community House 🌟

The ladies at Peter and Ann Hall Community House in Burbage recently welcomed Michael Mullaney along to one of our popular slow cooker sessions.

Together, we made a delicious vegetable soup using fresh ingredients generously donated from a local allotment. 🥕🥔🍅 It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, cook, and enjoy some homemade food together.

We were also delighted to give out slow cooker recipe books kindly provided by Cadent, who we are proud to work in partnership with. The books are packed full of simple, tasty, and cost-effective recipes to help people make the most of their slow cookers.

Of course, the session ended with everyone enjoying a bowl of our lovely homemade soup! 🍲😊

🌊🎨📚 Last week, some of the Community Houses Team attended Shilton on Sea, where we enjoyed three fantastic days of crafting with local children!

Throughout the event, we offered a variety of free craft activities each day, giving children the opportunity to get creative, have fun and take home their wonderful creations.

As part of our support for the Year of Reading 2026, we also incorporated book-themed activities and were delighted to give away free books to children, helping to encourage a love of reading and storytelling.

We hope everyone who joined us had as much fun as we did! 😊

A huge thank you to all the children, families and community members who came along and took part. We loved spending time with you and look forward to seeing you again soon!

The Community Houses Team will be at Shilton-on-Sea today, Wednesday and Thursday, with lots of FREE crafts and activities for children to enjoy! 🎉

We're also giving away FREE books as part of our support for the National Year of Reading 2026, helping children and families discover the joy of reading. 📖✨

There’s plenty to see and do, so bring the family along, get creative, pick up a free book, and enjoy a fun-filled day with us!

We welcome donations (please make sure they're clean and in good condition).

🌿🍄 The ladies from the Barwell Craft Group, held at the George Ward Centre, have been having a fantastic time getting creative with air-dry clay! They have been making their own beautiful toadstool and fairy garden scenes, and the results look absolutely amazing. 😊

It's been lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves, learning new skills, and creating unique decorations for their gardens.

☀️🌊 **Community House Trip to Skegness** 🍦🐚

Last week, our Community Houses enjoyed a fantastic day trip to sunny Skegness! Despite the warm weather, we kept cool with a paddle in the sea, plenty of delicious ice creams, and lots of traditional seaside treats.

It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, fun, and great memories, and everyone had a brilliant time. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the trip such a success.

We’re already looking forward to the next adventure! 😊
