I was excited (and nervous) to be asked to create this cake to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this fabulous charity Leicester Wheels For All
LWFA believe that cycling should be an inclusive activity, accessible to everyone and the team of volunteers work tirelessly to make that possible.

I have personally witnessed feedback from people that LWFA have helped and it is not an exaggeration to say that their work is changing lives.
I'm Leicester born and bred and was unaware of this organisation until now.
So, do hop onto their page, give them a Follow and spread the message of their amazing work.

As we draw closer to Sundays celebration event. It's fair to say we have had some challenges in the last 10 years.
2020 found us in lockdown. Our van was destroyed in an arson attack. In the years that followed we continued to grow. But in 2023 we didn't know if the charity had a future due to limited funding. We decided to bid for a National Lottery Community Fund Grant and we were successful! An incredible achievement and has given us stability to run events for the next few years.
Everything we have achieved would not have been possible without our brilliant team of Volunteers, Trustees and Session Leaders. We still pride ourselves on "No matter what the disability, we can find a trike that will work".
It's been a fantastic 10 years and we look forward to many more!

Not long now until our 10 celebration event! In 2019 we held nearly 100 events! No stopping us! A key year as we gained permission from Leicester City council to run an event called 'ride in the park'. Running on Wednesday mornings at Abbey Park, one of the best parks in Leicester. We didn't know it then, but this was to be our flagship event! It's grown into the most popular event we do. Walkers, runners, families and anyone using the park are amazed by those who take part. Often stopping to find out more. For most they have never seen anyone on a wheelchair trike! Fast forward to this year when Chris Boardman CBE came to visit us at the park. We could never have imagined such thing all those years ago!

A fantastic family Great Central Way ride today. A gentle cycle along the old railway line and even a bit off roading for some! We were joined by VISTA Tandem Cycling Coventry who rode our tandem. Kate who has sight loss said it was the best day of her life! We caused a stir as we rode on by. A huge thanks to the Freemasons Lodge of Cycling who have made these events possible!

One week to go to our 10 year celebration event at Saffron Lane Athletic stadium!
2018 was the beginning of cycle events at the stadium. So far over 300 events have been held there! It's not just those who live local to Leicester who benefit. People travel from Northampton, Nottingham and Coventry to name a few!
Saffron is our 2nd busiest event.
Care homes, disability groups, families and school groups all join in. For some families this is the one activity they can all take part in. As we encourage siblings, parents and carers to join in with those they support in cycling! A truly inclusive activity for all! It is fitting our 10 year celebration event will be held there next week.😃🎂🎊🎉

The countdown continues to our 10 year celebration event on 16th August. In 2017 our 2nd year operating as an Independent charity. This was also the year we began our outreach to SEND schools. Hiring a van to take our Adaptive Trikes to schools. Oaklands in Leicester and Birchwood in Melton Mowbray were the first schools we visited. We now cover most of the city and county SEND schools. It's a core part of what we do! Thousands of SEND children and their families have benefited from these events. It doesn't stop at school, many go on to purchase their own adaptive trike or attend our public cycle events. It's common for those with disabilities and their families to say "we didn't realise cycling would be possible".
It was just a case of finding the right bike...
