The foundations of International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS) were laid in 2018 by 3 scholars. To launch the foundation of the society, in 2019 University of Leicester School of Management hosted a very timely and relevant international conference in Leicester, United Kingdom on โ€œGlobal trends in the Efficiency and Risk Management of Financial Services and the Financial Crisisโ€. IFABS 2nd c

onference followed in Crete in collaboration with Technical University of Crete in 2010; the third conference in collaboration with the University of Rome III in Rome and the last one was held in June, 2012 in collaboration with the University of Valencia and University of Jaume I in Valencia. And a series of conferences in collaboration with prominent institutions and central banks continued each year. IFABS Annual conference is a major event in which the worlds of academia and practice unite to discuss issues of high significance and impact. It is a prestigious and extremely successful forum for academic researchers and policy makers that everyone looks forward to participating in. IFABS each year attracted increasing number of submissions from academia, policy-makers and the financial industry. From the inception in 2008, the Society has been active in increasing the visibility in an international context by attracting more than 7500 members which include researchers from academia, policy-makers and the financial industry in 69 countries.

๐ŸŒŸ Valuable conversations at IFABS 2026 London ๐ŸŒŸ

One of the best parts of IFABS is the opportunity for meaningful, informal discussions that go beyond the formal sessions.

In this moment, Prof Meryem Duygun, our IFABS President, is listening attentively to the insightful advice of Professor Lawrence J. White, a prominent scholar from US - NYU Stern School of Business. Part of this enriching conversation were Professor Vusal Gasimli โ€” a distinguished figure from Azerbaijan and Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) โ€” and talented PhD student Boyuan Li from Nottingham University Business School, who brought fresh perspectives to the discussion.

These interactions highlight the true spirit of IFABS: bridging generations, geographies, and experiences in finance and economics. From established thought leaders to emerging scholars, every voice adds depth and value!

Grateful to Prof. White for generously sharing his expertise, to Prof. Qasimli for his international perspective and leadership, and to Boyouan for representing the next generation so impressively.

Events like IFABS London remind us why building strong academic and professional networks matters. We are excited to carry these insights forward! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
