It has been a busy shift for Leicester CFRs Matt and Zara who were faced with five emergency calls whilst on duty. Some evenings can be hectic! If you spot us out on the Leicester roads, say hi 👋

Call 999 for life threatening situations and 111 for anything urgent. You can also speak to your GP or pharmacist before ringing for an ambulance which can reduce wait times 💚

Most of Leicester CFRs work during the day, leaving only evenings and nights available for booking on duty and responding to emergency calls. That's the life for many volunteers. What incredible work, dedication and commitment!

With warm weather forecast this weekend and into next week, more of us will enjoy spending time in, on, or around water, so it’s important to stay safe.

Almost half (47%) of UK accidental drownings happen between May and August, with higher risks during warmer weather.

Keep yourself and your family safe:
• Check for hazards, including depth, currents, tides, and hidden underwater objects.
• Stay together and swim in lifeguarded areas.

In an emergency:
• Call 999 immediately
• If you fall in or become tired, stay calm, float on your back, and call for help

Here's a throwback from when the CFRs had a stand at one of Leicester's Fire Station Open Days It was an excellent opportunity for colleagues across the emergency services to come together and showcase our work to the general public. It also provides us with an opportunity to teach CPR and raise some funds for our scheme. 🚒
