Just a short message from Simon Johnson (Manager).
Today is my last working day in the office before I begin a period of annual leave ahead of my retirement.
It has been a privilege to work in St Matthews for many years, initially with Leicestershire Police and, more recently, as Manager of St Matthews Big Local.
Together, as a community, we have achieved so much. St Matthews is a better place because of its strong community spirit, friendly people, and rich diversity. It truly is the case that diversity is our strength.
I will miss St Matthews dearly. I am fortunate to count many of you as friends, and I apologise if I did not have the opportunity to say goodbye personally. I wish you all the very best for the future. I know there are many dedicated people who will continue to champion St Matthews, helping it to grow stronger and become an even better place to live and work.
I am immensely proud of everything we have achieved together, from the creation of the Multi-Use Games Area to the many opportunities that the charity has provided for St Matthews residents.
There is always more to do, and as I step aside, our new Manager, Mr Ish Latif, will have the opportunity—supported by our Trustees, funders and wider community—to build on our successes and create new opportunities and achievements for St Matthews Big Local and the wider community.
Although I am retiring, I will continue to support and champion this community from afar whenever I can.
Now it is time for some well-earned time with my family and a chance to enjoy the next chapter.
Best regards,
Simon Johnson
