Today (18/04/2026), Saturday, in the United Kingdom, it is the day to sight the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Dhul Qa‘dah. Please observe the sky for the new crescent and announce if it is sighted.

RAMADAN HAS 30 DAYS

1 SHAWWAL = SATURDAY 21 MARCH
EID IS ON SATURDAY (LOCAL SIGHTING)

We had moonsighters around the country – Cardiff, Exeter, Bristol, Southampton, London, Oxford, Birmingham, Leicester, Derby, Bolton, Preston, Liverpool, Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Jersey Islands and many more!

Thank you to all of you who were looking for the moon – we had great gatherings and an incredible feeling of reviving the sunnah.

However as the moon was not seen in the UK by the eyes, those who follow local sighting will do Eid on Saturday In Sha Allah.

MONTHLY HILAL & EID ANNOUNCEMENT.

*MOON WAS NOT SIGHTED, RAMADAN COMPLETED AS 30 days AND THE EIDUL FITR FALL ON THE 21st OF MARCH 2026*

Today (Thursday the 19th of March 2026) The Hilal (Moon) for the Month of Shawwal 1447 AH was NOT SIGHTED anywhere in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧.

The Hilal Committee are therefore announcing to the British UK Muslims that the EDUL FITR and the first day of the Month of Shawwal will be fall on Saturday the 21st of March 2026.

May Allah accept our efforts.

இன்று வியாழக்கிழமை (19/03/2026) ஐக்கிய இராச்சியத்தின் நாட்டின் எப்பாகத்திலும் ஷவ்வால் மாதத் தலைப்பிறை தென்பட்டதற்கான எந்த அறிகுறியும் இல்லை என்பதால், ஷவ்வால் மாத முதல்நாள் மற்றும் ஈதுல் பித்ர் பெருநாள் நாளை மறுதினம் அதாவது சனிக்கிழமை 21/03/2026 என்று UK 🇬🇧 பிறைக்குழுவால் முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது என்பதை ஐக்கிய இராச்சிய முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு அறியத்தருகின்றோம்.

Moon Seen in the British Isles!
Ramadan Begins Tomorrow!
The 1st of Ramadan is Thursday 19th February 2026

Alhamdulillah, we have seen the moon in the British Isles tonight, Wednesday 18th February, despite the cloudy weather. Tonight is therefore the first night of Tarawih. Our passionate and dedicated moonsighters turned out in full force across the country, spanning: Orkney Islands, Fife, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Sheffield, York, Manchester, Bolton, Blackburn, Preston, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Cambridge, Oxford, Norwich, Bristol, Exeter, Cardiff, Cornwall, Southampton, London, and many more locations besides.

The moon was first sighted by Riaz Anjam from Jersey, followed by further sightings across Jersey and Guernsey, including by Ali Awan and Maulana Abdullah.

We held a special live stream at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, and we are truly honoured to have such a partner. Greenwich holds a unique place in history as the home of time itself, and we hope that it may also become the place where Muslims find their unity.
