Manor House Community Centre

Manor House Community Centre Manor House Neighbourhood Centre is a community centre located in Leicester. This centre was originally a house called St. Marys fields and was built in 1866.

The Manor House Neighbourhood Centre offers classes, programs, drop-in activities and special events for people of all ages,. Meeting rooms, large hall, multipurpose activity rooms, are just some of the components found in the centre. We have a committee of volunteers who work with Leicester City Council to run the centre. The owner was Mr.William Bates who owned the rubber mill at St.Marys Mills.

After he died in 1921, the building was sold to the local authority and became a special school in 1924. It closed in 1976 and through community pressure it was opened as a community centre in 1979. In 2009 it closed again but because of community pressure again it re-opened in January 2011. A fuller history of the building and original photographs can be seen at the centre.
