Introducing: Healing Through Creativity 🌿✨

Sometimes, in the most difficult chapters of our lives, we find unexpected ways to express what we’re feeling, process what we’re going through, and find little moments of hope and beauty.

Recently, one of our clients shared something very special with us.

During the years her husband was living with cancer, and throughout her journey as his carer, she began writing poetry. Writing became a way for her to express the emotions she was carrying, cope with the difficult days, and make sense of everything around her. She describes feeling as though some of the words were simply being channelled through her.

Her poems are deeply heartfelt and incredibly moving. What struck us most was how, amongst so much heartache, she continued to notice beauty in the world around her — in butterflies, nature, family, travel, and the small moments that make up our everyday lives.

We were so touched by her words that we wanted to give them a little space of their own. 💛

We’ll be creating a small scrapbook in our reception area, where clients can take a moment to read some of her poetry. We’ll also be sharing a poem or piece of her work here on our social media every week or two — a little moment of reflection, encouragement or inspiration for anyone who might need it.

And we’d love to open this up to you, too. 🌸

If you have written poetry, a piece of writing, created a painting, drawing, photograph, artwork, or anything else that has helped you through a difficult time, brought you joy, offered you hope, or simply captured something beautiful, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

With your permission, we may share your work in our reception scrapbook or on our social media, so that your creativity might bring a little light to someone else’s day.

If you’d like to contribute, please email your work to:

Sometimes, the things we create from our own experiences can become a source of comfort for someone else. ❤️

We hope this little project can become a collection of words, images, creativity and moments of hope — shared by our clients and our wider community.

You never know who might need to see what you have created. 🌿

A beautiful day of relaxation, self-care and connection at Sue Young Cancer Support 💕✨

A huge thank you to Clarins for treating our clients to wonderful mini facials, giving everyone the chance to relax, unwind and enjoy a little well-deserved pampering.

It was lovely to see so many smiles, hear laughter filling the room and watch clients spending time chatting, connecting and supporting one another in such a welcoming atmosphere.

Days like these are a gentle reminder of how important it is to take a little time for ourselves and enjoy moments of kindness and care.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. We can't wait to do it again! 💖

💙 A huge thank you to an incredible supporter! 💙

We'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to one of our amazing fundraisers, who has raised over £1,000 so far in support of Sue Young Cancer Support.

He began his fundraising journey in memory of his dear friend, Hannah. Hannah was a much-loved attendee of our service and often spoke about the difference Sue Young Cancer Support had made to her. Inspired by her words and wanting to honour her memory, he set out to raise awareness of our charity and the support we provide to people affected by cancer across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

From coffee mornings and bingo events to fun workplace fundraising activities, his dedication has been truly inspiring. And he's not stopping there—his next challenge is a marathon!

He's inviting anyone who knew Hannah, or anyone who would simply like to support a fantastic local cause, to join him on marathon day. Whether you take part, cheer from the sidelines, or make a donation, every contribution helps us continue providing vital support to those affected by cancer in our community.

If you'd like to support his fundraising, we'll pop the TotalGiving link in the comments.

Thank you for everything you've done so far. Your kindness, commitment and generosity are helping ensure that more people can access the support they need, when they need it most. 💙

Throughout 2026 I am raising money for a local cancer support centre in Leicestershire and Rutland. The charity provides support for local cancer patients and to family members and carers.
