Congratulations to Charlotte Hall on being awarded the LRSA Presidents Prize 2026 for Postgraduate Architecture at Loughborough University.

"Aquatic Revival. The proposal challenges the traditional aquarium model by reversing the relationship between humans and marine life, allowing people to observe species within their natural environment, rather than removing them into an artificial one. The design also explores the impact of active water on mental wellbeing, creating a space that supports both ecological restoration and human health simultaneously."

Congratulations to Kieran Starr on being awarded the LRSA Presidents Prize 2026 for Postgraduate Architecture at De Montfort University.

"With UK high streets in a rapid decline, this project aims to re-contextualise a key element of life by moving away from retail reliance and instead, cultivating community on the back alleys and bays Granby Street. This is explored here through building a growing frame with multi use units and walkways that allow connection to rooftops, creating communal growing spaces and tiered gardens with living spaces above the existing shops and commercial units. Allotment schemes rebuild a sense of connection between the urban environment agriculture and providing access to healthy food in places where it might not be as available as well as supplying community led businesses. Porosity and increased access is achieved through pulling through shop fronts and creating cut throughs from the Granby Street to ultimately create the "Community high street". "

Congratulations to Mark Shaw on being awarded the LRSA Presidents Prize 2026 for Undergraduate Architecture at De Montfort University.

"Ecotone Breawern explores how the historic and industrial process of brewing can become more sustainable through adaptive reuse, circular waste systems, and ecological integration. Set within a former industrial site, the proposal creates a shared environment where humans and herpetofauna coexist, using architecture to support both brewing and biodiversity while reducing environmental impact."

Congratulations to Maxwell Cantrell on being awarded the LRSA Presidents Prize 2026 for Undergraduate Architecture at Loughborough University.

"The Data Quarry is a non-sovereign archive and mediation centre in Nicosia’s UN Buffer Zone. It treats divided histories as data to be excavated, processed and protected. Through ARIA - Archive Reconciliation Intelligence Assembly, a purpose-built UN Artificial Intelligence, conflicting records from North and South are compared to reveal overlaps, omissions and contradictions. Part quarry, archive and machine, the building holds contested evidence for future reconciliation."

We’re pleased to share details of an upcoming CPD event hosted by the Nottinghamshire Building Preservation Trust on Thursday 14th May 2026.

This full-day seminar brings together expert speakers to explore traditional building techniques and heritage conservation, including:
• Timber-framed buildings
• Mud-and-stud construction
• Recording heritage buildings at risk
• A hands-on lime mortar application workshop

The day offers a great balance of theory and practical learning, with opportunities to engage directly in conservation techniques.
