Packed with Love

Grub Club only happens thanks to our superstar volunteer squad. Our trusty treasurer seeks out grants and donations, allowing us to dish out free meals and fun times to families facing tough times. Twice a week during school holidays, we serve up food and activities for families with primary school children.
However, we need more heroes! We're always looking for folks with a Tuesday or Thursday to spare during school holidays to join our activities , kitchen and meet-and-greet team.
Right now, we're especially eager to find some table-setting and dishwashing dynamos for Thursday, April 2nd and / or 9th. If you’re feeling chef-y, you could even prep some food! Without your help, our Grub Club may not run. Volunteering involves completing a quick form for insurance purposes, and then joining us from 9:30 to 2:30.
If you can’t spare all that time but could help 9:30 to 10:30 to set-up, or 12:00 to 2:00 for clean-up. It’s hardwork but seeing 75 happy bellies makes it all worthwhile.

Foodbanks food comes from the public but also from supermarkets. Supermarkets often give products that are getting close to their sell by dates and have a low value. Personal Care and Cleaning Products have an exceptionally long sell by date on them and are of high value so the supermarkets rarely pass them on. The public don’t often donate them because it feels kinder to donate twelve tins of beans rather than a box of washing powder but in reality people in need can often afford a tin of beans but their budget can not manage washing powder the same week as shampoo for the children . It really is very kind to donate a pack of nappies or any of the personal care and cleaning products , think how much more food a family can buy if they are given nappies .
