Rahma Mercy Rahma (Mercy) is a UK registered charity. In addition to this we also run seasonal projects; distributing food on the occasions of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Adha.

Rahma (Mercy) was founded in the year 1999 in response to the plight of the refugees whom were fleeing from the war in Kosovo. We have since grown, from our humble beginning as a group of 13 volunteers setting out for a journey via road in an Aid Convoy, to becoming a UK registered Charity and and an NGO in Kosovo and Albania. We are currently providing aid and support to 5 different countries in the Balkans; Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia. We work with international partners whom are based in South Africa, Australia and Singapore, alongside collaboration with national partners based here in the UK.With the support of our generous donors we have been able to complete many successful projects in areas such as; Housing, Water Sanitation, Food Aid, Education, Community Re-development, Orphan Sponsorship and Mosque Construction.

I went up Snowdon to raise money for food packs for families in Albania who are struggling to put food on the table.

I never imagined that, just metres from the summit, I would be the one who needed help.

My legs locked. I couldn’t move an inch. The pain was unbearable.

Yet somehow, I was surrounded by people who refused to leave me behind, from the strangers who stopped to help, to the incredible woman who carried me to the summit, and the mountain guides who took turns carrying me back down.

That day left me thinking deeply about sadaqah.

We give, often never knowing exactly where that charity will take us. We don’t know whose hunger it will ease, whose hardship it will lighten, or how Allah may protect us through the good we give.

I went up that mountain to give.
And on the way down, I experienced what it means to receive.

There are families in Albania who need that same kindness today.

In Islam, a woman is honoured for her faith, character, knowledge, and contribution. 🌸
Her pursuit of knowledge is not a limitation, it is part of her strength and dignity.
Honoured in faith. Empowered by knowledge. Valued by her character.



Behind one of the greatest scholars of Islam stood a devoted mother. Imam al-Bukhari was raised by his mother, who nurtured his faith, supported his pursuit of knowledge, and stood by him through hardship.

Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal was raised by his mother, who devoted herself to his upbringing and encouraged his pursuit of knowledge.

Imam al-Shafi‘i was raised by his mother, who carried the responsibility of raising him with faith, discipline, and a love for knowledge.

Imam al-Bukhari, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, and Imam al-Shafi‘i went on to shape Islamic scholarship and influence communities across generations.

Behind these great scholars were mothers who nurtured their faith, supported their education, and helped lay the foundations for legacies that still shape the world today.

Never underestimate the woman raising the next generation. Her influence may reach far beyond her own lifetime.

When you educate a woman, you do more than give her knowledge, you give her the tools to shape minds, nurture generations, strengthen families, and serve her community.

If educating a woman can shape generations, then building a place where women can learn is an investment in the future of an entire community.

The Rahma Institute in Albania is a vision to nurture knowledge, faith, confidence, and purpose in women who will go on to influence families and generations to come.

What we build today can become a legacy tomorrow.

Over 1,400 years ago, the Prophet ﷺ spoke of a time when wealth would become so abundant that people would struggle to find anyone in need of Zakat.

Today, we’re watching the world transform at a pace few generations before us could have imagined.

Maybe the point isn’t to predict exactly what comes next.

Maybe it’s to recognise that the world we know is not the world that will always be.

And while there is still a need, there is still an opportunity to give.
