Prattyush Banerjee (born 1969, Kolkata) is a leading Indian sarode player, composer, arranger, and instrument designer, and a prominent disciple of Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta of the Shahjahanpur-Bengal lineage. Trained initially by his father and later by Pandit Samarendra Sikdar, he studied under Das Gupta for over 35 years.
Banerjee is known for his distinct musical style, innovative fi*****ng techniques, and adapting the vocal tappa style to the sarode. He has also modified the traditional sarode and created its first electric version, the Jyotidhwani.
He has performed widely at major Indian festivals and international venues, including the Darbar Festival in London, and contributed sarode music to films such as Piku and Madras Cafe. As a producer, he has worked on 75+ albums with renowned artists and composers. Banerjee has received several awards for his contributions to Indian classical music and has also written extensively on music while serving as a research consultant at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata.
