Keepmoat Homes have been busy fundraising for our Swan Rooms and current Z Bed Appeal 💙🧡

Michelle Filer, Customer Services Director and Grace Theaker, Commercial Administrator have been hard at work, raising funds for our charity through a fabulous Las Vegas ball and running the Robin Hood Half Marathon in memory of their late friend and colleague, Jasmine Bosworth.

Jasmine was the life of the party and loved everything glitz, glam, sparkle, and fun, Asiya and Sarah were honoured to join the Keepmoat team and share in the celebration of Jasmine's life. Keepmoat Homes have collectively raised £7017.00 in Jasmine's memory.

The team have fundraised towards Z beds (supporting our recent appeal) that family members can use when a loved one is in the hospital on end-of-life care and a SWAN room; a dignified private room that is available to patients and their families so they can spend precious moments together.

Thank you Keepmoat Homes, you've made a great thing happen for families across Leicester and beyond.

Well done to everyone who took part in the Cancer Brown Dog Charity Group walk over the weekend! 🧡

THANK YOU to the 30 people who joined us at Foxton Locks to walk 15 miles to help people fight cancer. It was such a beautiful walk on a perfect sunny day, with such a great bunch of people.

A new therapeutic garden at Glenfield Hospital is transforming the experience of critically ill patients, giving them fresh air, natural light, and a sense of normality during some of their most challenging moments.

This space has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Leicester Rotary Club and our generous supporters. The garden provides a safe and accessible outdoor space for patients, families and staff. Even patients receiving advanced treatments, including ECMO, can now benefit from time outdoors in a calming environment designed to support wellbeing, recovery and connection.

Anthea Brookes-Elbaz, Deputy Sister, said: “We started this project in 2022, coming out of the COVID pandemic, with a vision to create a calm outdoor space where patients, their families and staff could benefit from the positive effects of nature. As a Critical Care Sister, I know how important it is to create opportunities for patients to step away from the clinical environment and experience fresh air, natural light and a sense of normality.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Rotary Club of Leicester and the supporters of Leicester Hospitals Charity, as well as everyone who has supported our fundraising and development, for helping turn this vision into reality. This garden is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a team comes together, and it will make a real difference to patients, relatives and our staff.”

We'd like to wish a big good luck to Cancer Brown Dog Charity Group , and all of their supporters taking part in their Foxton Locks 'Under Lock and Key' fundraising walk this weekend.

This year, Brown Dog are aiming to raise £24,500 for a Bi-Polar Energy Generator, that will treat people with large bowel polyps and very early-stage cancers of the food pipe, stomach, and bowel.

Supporters taking part in the 15 and 7 mile walks have been fundraising in support of Brown Dog Cancer Charity and Leicester Hospitals Charity, to help us in funding this equipment for the Cancer Services, across our hospitals, helping us to enhance the care and experience of cancer patients across Leicestershire.

Good luck to our four runners, taking on the Leicester Half Marathon on Sunday 11 October🏃‍♂️

Lorna, Shannon, Chloe, and Aarti are taking on this challenge in support of areas across our hospitals, including the Secret Garden at the Glenfield Hospital, our Cancer Services, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and our Children's Services.
