Today is Social Mobility Day, something that Sea-Changers are keen to champion in the marine conservation and not for profit sector.

From the financial cost of learning to dive to the time commitment of voluntary work experience, the marine conservation sector is not super inclusive from a social mobility perspective.

This is why we love projects that increase accessibility by…

- Helping people who have never visited the coast before to learn about the sea by bringing them to the sea, or bringing the sea to them

- Funded programs for people from underrepresented backgrounds who want to gain experience in science

- Making it physically easier to access the beach with equipment and clothing

Because for us to protect our seas, we need to have all hands on deck and push the boundaries of what is possible 🙌

This Social Mobility Day, what is one thing you can do to move along your organisation’s or personal social mobility story? (Hint, here are some ideas: review a barrier to taking part, have a conversation about it to hear different perspectives or read an article about it)

🌊 Sea-Changers has officially joined the Our Seas Coalition. 🎉

The coalition brings together more than 160 organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals who are working towards healthier, more sustainable Scottish seas.

By joining this growing movement, we’re strengthening our commitment to supporting practical action that protects marine ecosystems while helping coastal communities thrive.

The Our Seas Coalition is calling for stronger protections for Scotland’s inshore waters, including measures to reduce the impacts of bottom trawling and dredging, support sustainable fishing practices, improve vessel tracking, and ensure a fair transition for affected sectors.

At Sea-Changers, we know that meaningful change happens when communities, educators, conservation groups, businesses and campaigners work together.

Collaboration has always been at the heart of what we do, and we’re excited to stand alongside so many passionate organisations championing the future of our seas.

Together, we can help create healthier seas, richer biodiversity and more resilient coastal communities for generations to come.

We were lucky to bump into Blue Wilson and go for a walk and talk!

While we have been eating ice creams in this heatwave, Blue has continued to walk the UK coastline in aid of Sea-Changers and 🥵🌟 She is an inspiration!

Stay tuned for more videos of our conversation. We wish Blue the absolute best for the rest of her travels, you can also follow Blue’s page for photos from her walk and donate via the link in our bio 🫶

We’d like to share a heart felt thank you to each and everyone of you who helped get the word out recently.

Between the job opening for the Executive Director and our Innovation Grant, you, our wonderful supporters and community really helped amplify the word. And as a result we have received a fantastic number of applications to both.

We also grew our page by a lot.

It really does mean the world. Each like, share, comment and message is massively appreciated.

Thank you for helping us reach new heights and helping us to grow our impact in supporting Marine Conservation projects, here in the UK 🇬🇧

A big thanks from Rachel, Helen, and all the Sea-Changers volunteers.

We’re excited to share the results of both in the coming months.
