⚠️ Public awareness for anyone buying a house ⚠️

Hi Admin, please post anonymously if possible.

If you’re looking to buy a house in Highfields or parts of Stoneygate, especially around Churchill St, Hamilton St, Earl Howe St, Skipworth St, Myretle Road, Cedar Road and Connaught Street, please be careful.

Estate agents work for the seller, not the buyer, so don’t assume they will tell you about every problem with the house.

Things like damp, timber problems and structural issues can be hard to spot when viewing a property. You may only find out after paying for a Level 3 survey.

By then, you could have already spent thousands on the survey, solicitor and other costs. If you ask the seller to fix the problems or reduce the price, they may simply refuse, leaving you in a difficult position.

My advice: get an independent survey, ask lots of questions and don’t feel pressured into buying just because you’ve already spent money.

A house can look perfect during a viewing but have very expensive problems. Please do your checks before committing.

I want to build a a 15 by 6m outbuilding what sort of cost am I looking at and what sort of planning permission would I need . I’m not planning on using it as a dwellling initially but maybe in 5 or 10 years I may .
