THE POET
I’m not a banker, was once
I’m not a preacher, discouraged by charlatans
I’m not a tutor , never liked to be
I’m a poet, and proud to be
I’m a scribe
Hate me, I don’t care
I’m a poet
If you hate me, I don’t care
My pen pours out emotions
My words touch hearts with deepest devotion
I write of love, life, and pain
Ink on paper, my emotions I sustain
My poetry may be simple or complex
But it holds value beyond any index
It reveals the beauty in the simplest thing
And makes the pain of this world easier to bring
My words bring hope to the hopeless
They provide solace to those helpless
My poems express hidden emotions
And give voice, to those troubled with notions
I’m not just a writer of mere words
I paint images that are felt, not just heard
My poetry doesn't follow any rules
My words aren't bound by the world's tools
In this world, I may not hold much fame
For the poetry is an oft-forgotten name
But my words, my thoughts, my voice
In silence can shake the world's noise.
