Our friends at Optimal Hearing - Syston clinic continue their training ahead of their Snowdon Challenge. Our volunteers enjoyed a fun get together recently; a buffet and some friendly competitive table top games. Volunteer social events are a great way to meet other volunteers and chat about the valuable work our volunteers do.

One of our regular events is the monthly Community Lunch; our volunteer minibus drivers and companions make sure everyone gets there safely. You can see why our volunteers are award winning - smiles all round!

We are always looking for volunteer drivers; you can use your own car, with expenses reimbursed, or enquire about mini bus driving - full training is given.

After nearly 7 years leading this multi-award-winning charity, I'm stepping down as Manager of Syston Volunteer Centre — Leicestershire's best Community Transport Charity. (Biased? Maybe. But the awards don't lie! 😄)

It's been an honour to lead such a passionate team delivering vital transport and support services to our community, but all good things evolve and I'm fully committed to ensuring a smooth handover to whoever takes this incredible organisation forward.

The trustees are now searching for their next Manager — a role that's as rewarding as it is meaningful.

✅ Lead a team of 3 paid staff and almost 50 dedicated volunteers

✅ Drive community transport services that genuinely change lives

✅ Bring fresh vision to a charity with a strong track record

Our friends at Optimal Hearing - Syston clinic have set themselves the Snowdon Challenge to raise funds for the Syston Volunteer Centre. We are so grateful that the team are willing to put themselves through this to support our vital community transport service.

Spotlight on... Office Manager Andy S.

Andy has been the Office Manager at Syston & District Volunteer Centre for almost 7 years. Andy is likely to be the first person you see if you pop into the office, or the voice you'll hear if you ring in. As Office Manager, Andy's responsibilities are many and varied; from onboarding new volunteers, arranging training for minibus drivers, planning routes and booking transport to keeping on top of the latest legislation, managing budgets and even cleaning the office at the end of the day! A small charity like the Syston Volunteer Centre has many aspects to keep on top of, and Andy is pivotal to keeping everything running smoothly. Thank you Andy for all your hard work, we greatly appreciate it!
