We were delighted to work with the Canal and River Trust and held an inter generational arts activity for our members and grandchildren at the Cross corners community centre in Belgrave.

Our members had a wonderful gardening session today at our allotments in Holden st, I often get asked WHY Gardening is good for us all?

🍅 It great to grow your own fruit/ veg, no chemicals and it’s seasonal produce.

🥕 Being out in the fresh air improves our Mental Health and connects us to nature, it’s great at keeping us fit as well!

🍓 Meet other people, learn new skills and don’t feel alone.

The Getting Help in the Neighbourhood (GHIN) Grant continues to support our weekly gardening sessions at Holden St allotments in the Belgrave area. 🌻🌺🍆🍑

✅ We continue to support every one to improve their wellbeing by being outdoors
✅ Learn to grow your own veg/ fruit and share knowledge
✅ Encourage our volunteers to support this project which supports their wellbeing
✅ Address loniness by bringing communities together and provide one to one support when required

We have been keeping super active during the warm summer months and heatwave 🌴🌻😎

✅ Enjoying outdoor Tai Chi sessions in local green spaces
✅ wellbeing trip and walk to Rutland waters
✅ weekly Repair cafe
✅ Climate awareness workshops
✅ Talking about our projects at the monthly partnership coffee mornings
✅ Visiting the saffron acres community project to share learning

We are Looking forward to delivering lots more as part of our Project Surya initiative to include communities in conversations and action concerning climate change.

What a joy it was was to be outside in the fresh air tending to our allotments in Holden Street, we harvested onions/ potatoes and berries today.

As part of our monthly Project Surya workshops our project coordinator delivered an interactive presentation on What Renewal Energy means.

It was a great opportunity to understand the importance of renewable energy to address changes in our climate.
The funding from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund has allowed diverse communities in Leicester to learn about the impact of climate change.

🌿 **The Great Big Green Week 2026** 🌿

As part of The Great Big Green Week 2026, we were delighted to deliver a range of activities focused on sustainability, wellbeing, and climate action.

Our community came together to:
🚲 Take part in free cycle training sessions
🌱 Hold sustainable living workshops and explore ways we can all live greener lives
🌳 Enjoy nature walks to improve wellbeing and connect with the environment
♻️ Learn about the benefits of gardening and. composting, recycling, reusing, and upcycling
🌍 Discuss practical actions we can all take to address climate change and helping organisations and residents better understand their role in tackling climate change.

The conversations and ideas generated during the week are already creating positive change.

As a result, we are now working closely with the management team at the Peepul Centre to explore new ways of reducing waste, increasing recycling, and making the centre more sustainable.

We are also exploring collaborations with local universities to introduce Carbon Literacy Training for community centres and groups.

Together, small actions can make a big difference. Let's all think green, act green, and do our part to protect our planet for future generations. 💚

It was wonderful to be presenting our latest project called Project Surya to some of our stakeholders and community partners at the Leicester University School of Business Brookfield campus.
The key message is connecting, collaboration and learning.
