Women 4 Change Community support & empowerment

25/01/2026

This Friday we welcomed to St Matthews Centre for a powerful evening of education, discussion and planning. ✊🏽
Together with Jackie, the organiser, and our young people, we explored the importance of having our voices heard and taking action. A big focus of the night was planning for International Women’s Day, alongside other upcoming educational sessions at the centre.
The energy in the room was inspiring – ideas were shared, confidence was built and plans were made. We’re now gearing up for an empowerment session next Friday, led by young voices, full of learning and meaningful activity.
This is what community education looks like. This is how change starts.

Yesterday we came together as a community to talk, listen and plan around the importance of fighting for the St Matthews Centre.
Men, women, children and our early years families use the centre every single week. It’s a place of safety, support, learning and connection.
Without it, it’s hard to imagine what we as a community would do. This space matters. These people matter. And we’re committed to standing together to protect what belongs to us all.

Last night marked the start of the boys’ Friday evening football sessions at St Matthews Cryuff Court, delivered in partnership with Leicester Atletico FC ⚽️

This partnership continues to show its true value. Over the years, young boys who once came simply to play are now being mentored to coach, lead and support the next generation. This is more than football, it is about resilience, discipline, consistency and brotherhood, even in freezing weather and without an indoor sports centre in St Matthews.

The young people remain determined to show up, playing for the love of the game, togetherness and community. Leicester Atletico coaches are strong role models for these young brothers, especially for those without father or older brother figures to look up to.

We are incredibly proud of what we are building together. This work creates a safe, positive space where young people stay active, avoid isolation and idleness, build friendships and grow into confident, focused individuals with purpose and direction.

The trip to Snowdonia was absolutely amazing, organised in collaboration with to educate young people about the importance of fundraising for their Youth Hub. We took 50 young people, along with volunteers and our directors for a full day filled with fun, teamwork and an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
