NEWBEC EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION WELCOMES OCTOBER, CELEBRATES NIGERIA’S 66TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, the NewBec Empowerment Foundation joins millions of Nigerians at home and abroad to celebrate the nation’s Independence Day and welcome the month of October with renewed hope, unity, service and commitment to community development.
Nigeria gained independence on October 1, 1960, making October 1, 2026, the nation’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
For NewBec Empowerment Foundation, this occasion is more than a national celebration. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the responsibility of individuals, organisations, communities and institutions to contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria.
A New Month, A Renewed Commitment to Service
The Foundation welcomes October with appreciation to its dedicated staff, volunteers, members, partners and supporters whose commitment continues to contribute to initiatives that touch lives and strengthen communities.
NewBec believes that sustainable development begins when people are empowered to participate in creating solutions to the challenges affecting their communities.
Through its focus on Leadership, Empowerment, Entrepreneurship and Community Development, the Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote education, health and wellbeing, youth and women empowerment, social inclusion, community development and assistance to vulnerable members of society.
Every child given an opportunity to learn, every young person encouraged to develop their potential, every family supported and every community reached represents another step towards a stronger society.

As we celebrate Nigeria at 66, NewBec Empowerment Foundation recognises the contributions of Nigerians across different sectors who continue to work, build, create, educate, innovate and serve despite the challenges facing the country.
The Federal Government has described this year’s Independence Anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey and the sacrifices of those who contributed to the country’s independence.
As a non-governmental organisation committed to community development, NewBec believes that nation-building is a shared responsibility. Government, civil society organisations, businesses, communities and citizens all have important roles to play in creating opportunities and improving lives.
Our responsibility is not only to ask what Nigeria can do for us, but also to consider what we can contribute to the people and communities around us.
