Mesothelioma UK Mesothelioma UK is the national charity for anyone affected by mesothelioma.

We exist to support people with mesothelioma to live better and live longer and to prevent mesothelioma happening to future generations. About Mesothelioma UK

Mesothelioma UK is a national specialist resource centre, specifically for the asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. The charity is dedicated to providing specialist mesothelioma information, support and education, and to improving care and treatment for all UK mesothelioma patients and their carers. The charity integrates into NHS front line services to ensure specialist mesothelioma nursing is available at the point of need. This is achieved through a growing network of specialist mesothelioma nurses, regionally based in NHS hospitals but funded by Mesothelioma UK. Mesothelioma UK is based at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust Glenfield site. The charity relies entirely on donations, legacies, fundraising and sponsorship to ensure all services provided free of charge across the UK.

đź’™ Brilliant fundraisers, Esme and Ollie recently took on the Junior and Mini Great North Run, raising funds to support the charity close to their hearts and running for their Granda.

Esme & Ollie's mum shared: "Both kids did amazingly on the run. My 7-year-old son, Ollie finished 3rd in his group and had a podium finish. My daughter, Esme ran with her brother then went on to complete her own Junior run.

"They were running to support our Granda, Michael Hasler. We will continue to run for Mesothelioma UK as long as we can and have already signed up for next year. We are incredibly proud of both Esme and Ollie, and proud they chose to keep supporting people affected by mesothelioma."

A huge thank you to both Esme and Ollie for taking part and coming together as a family in such a meaningful way. Your support and dedication are truly inspiring, and every step you took helps to make a difference.

We're incredibly proud to share that our recent BBC Radio 4 appeal has so far raised over £12,000! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who listened, donated, shared the appeal and helped to spread the word about mesothelioma and the dangers of asbestos.

The important appeal told Martin's story - from his diagnosis with mesothelioma decades after being exposed to asbestos, to the impact and support the charity has had on his life. It was presented by our valued Ambassador Carolyn Quinn, who knows the devastating impact of the disease personally after losing a beloved parent.

The awareness this appeal helped to raise was incredible, and we're so grateful to everyone who helped spread the message. Your support has made a real difference.đź’™

This World Mental Health Day, we’re thinking of everyone affected by mesothelioma.💙

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Living with mesothelioma can affect both your physical and emotional wellbeing. If you’re struggling, please know that you’re not alone. There are people who care and who are here to support you.

Strength and hope can be found through support and connection. Here are some ways to access support:

• Reach out to someone you trust – talk to a friend or family member about how you’re feeling
• Speak to your healthcare team – including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists or any member of your care team

Take on the London to Paris cycle for people affected by mesotheliomađźš´

Cycling from London to Paris is one of the great cycle experiences in Europe and a classic fundraising challenge! Travel through the picturesque Kent countryside, across the channel and through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France to arrive at the finishing point of the Eiffel Tower.

Getting a flu vaccine is a simple way to reduce your risk of catching the flu this winter. If you're having active treatment, you can talk to your GP or hospital team for advice on when the best time to have the vaccine is.

We were delighted to see our Mesothelioma Clinical Nurse Specialist, Mairead, attend the NORAC (National Organisation of Asbestos Consultants) conference in Manchester on Thursday 1 October.

Mairead presented a session on mesothelioma, sharing knowledge and helping to raise awareness among industry professionals. With asbestos exposure being the leading cause of mesothelioma, events like this are so important.

A big thank you to the conference organisers for inviting Mairead and bringing together industry professionals from across the asbestos sector, providing a valuable opportunity to share knowledge. We’re proud of Mairead for sharing her expertise and helping to shine a light on mesothelioma. 💙

You don’t have to have done any planning to take part as we are looking to find out about people’s experiences.

📢 BriSMA Data Submission is Now Open! Help Improve Mesothelioma Care

In partnership with the The June Hancock Memorial Foundation, we’ve launched the BriSMA project to better understand mesothelioma care across the UK – and now the platform is open for hospitals to take part.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma between 1st April 2025 - 31st July 2025, you can help by asking your healthcare team:

“Will my data be included in the British Mesothelioma Spotlight Audit?” By taking part, hospitals help improve care, fight inequity, and make every patient’s experience count.

Important:
Only the hospital/trust that made the diagnosis can submit the data
All information is handled securely and respectfully
