Good news, the Butterton Bus Shelter will be opening around Easter time. We'll let you know when we're ready to open and when we can accept donations. Please get in touch if you have something valuable or large to donate so we can store accordingly. In the meantime, please hang onto your items until we can give the shelter a sweep/tidy.

MESSAGE FROM THE COMMUNITY BUS SHELTER
Here is an update from the Butterton Bus Shelter. Previously, we published a monthly bulletin in the Community Magazine, which is no more, so we will endeavour to keep you informed through this medium instead.
We have started the distribution of funds collected by our charity with donations to four organisations that provide (non-state funded services) to our village and the surrounding area. These are WACFR first responders (Wetton and Alstonenfield Community First Responders), Air Ambulance, Mountain Rescue and Manifold Pre-School. They have told us the money will be used for the following projects:
WACFR – to add to a fund to replace the ambulance when it comes time to update
Midlands Air Ambulance – help pay for a new helicopter coming into service in 2026; the Bus Shelter will have its name painted on the bottom of the helicopter.
Buxton Mountain Rescue – help pay for a new ambulance in service this year.
Manifold Pre-School – help to pay for class room materials and staff.
Additionally, we have promised donations to the Wakes for equipment and the Village Hall for their new gates, so we need you to keep the funds coming in. We will tell you more soon.
As ever, we always need more bric a brac. Please remember, we do ask for donated items to be clean and in good condition to maintain the high standard we aim for. Do get in touch if you have something big or unusual to donate. We’ll be happy to chat. All being well, the Bus Shelter will stay open until late September.
You can donate in cash or if not convenient you can use your credit/debit card using the QR code in the Bus Shelter or make a payment to our bank – account details in the Shelter and on https://butterton.org.uk/bus-shelter-charity.
More information about the charity and what your donations have paid for can be found on the Butterton village website where there is also a ‘Donate’ button (https://butterton.org.uk/bus-shelter-charity).
Please make sure items left in the Bus Shelter are CLEAN and intact. Electrical or Mechanical items should work (label them ‘WORKING ORDER’). We will be obliged to remove anything which is inappropriate or potentially dangerous.
PLEASE don’t leave:
Clothing, knives, paint, anything flamable or toxic.
Alcohol, DVDs & CDs
Jam jars, egg boxes, out of date travel books, encyclopeadias etc.
