The degree of Royal Ark Mariner is a companion degree of freemasonry,it is based on the story of Noah and the Ark, hence the rainbow coloured regalia.
The ranks are similar to craft masonry but the chairman is called Worshipful Commander (not Worshipful Master).

£500 donation to Moorlands Voluntary Community Transport in Leek.

This evening (Wednesday 29th April) members of St. Edward’s Lodge number 966 in Leek were pleased to welcome Sally Bentley the Chief Officer of the Moorlands Voluntary Community Transport charity to Leek Masonic Hall where she was presented with a cheque for £500 from the Lodge by Charles McKenzie the Worshipful Master.

Sally explained the fantastic work the charity does with its volunteer drivers, offering both a Voluntary Transport Scheme and a Community Transport Scheme. The Voluntary Transport Scheme uses private cars to offer transport to those in need. The Community Transport Scheme is ideal for groups looking for minibus transport. It is not a taxi service but can take those needing assistance to appointments like the doctor or hospital.

Sally also received a tour of the Masonic Hall.

The photograph shows Lodge members and Sally left to right, Grand Lodge Officer Selwyn Burton, Sally Bentley, Charles McKenzie the Worshipful Master presenting the cheque and Tim Wareham the Immediate Past Master.

A great meeting of the Knights of Malta tonight (a masonic order) when two members of the Knights Templar joined (all Knights Templar join the Malta Order).
Vic Evans and Martyn Tighe were the joiners (both in the white, Vic is the taller of the two).
Many thanks to all the visitors who helped out, including a group called the Bodyguard.
