Opened in 1978 we are the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in England. Hospice care is more than a building. For many people living with a terminal illness, being able to stay at home for as long as possible is incredibly important. That's why so much of the care St Gemma's provides happens in the community - supporting people at home along with their families 🏡💜

Francesca is a regular at our Harehills shop and recently found this lovely outfit, with a dress for £6.99, a bag for £4.99 and a hat for just £2.

It was a privilege to say a massive thank you to Peter Roper, whose dear wife Jude was cared for at the Hospice, and to her daughter Lisa, sons Russell and Anthony, brother Jim, sister Linda, and nieces Diane and Michaela, for their incredible support with their fundraising event.

Together, you helped raise a fantastic £1,727.91 for St Gemma’s. 💜

A special thank you also goes to the Garforth WMC Committee for hosting the event, organisers David and Patricia Garbutt, and the wonderful Jimmy Jemain, who generously entertained everyone on the night with his fantastic Cliff Richard Tribute Act.

An a-maze-ing day out 💜🌽

Our Young People’s Service recently took 50 of the children, young people, parents and carers we support on a fun day out to York Maze.

A great day was had by all, with plenty of fun exploring the mazes and enjoying the rides, as well as watching the ‘Corniest Show on Earth’ and hearing plenty of corn-related jokes throughout the day! More than anything, the trip gave families an opportunity to spend time together, connect with one another and meet other children and young people who have shared similar experiences.

The entry tickets were generously donated by York Maze, helping to make this special day possible.
