We shared new research yesterday in other places but managed to miss the "share on Facebook button"...so...yeah..life...🤦🏻‍♀️

But we're here with it now. Calling it a win.

This research comes from Leeds Beckett and showcases how powerful:

❤️ Friendships
❤️ Mental and emotional strength
❤️ Safe, welcoming spaces

can be in helping young girls become and stay active and experience all the benefits it can bring. Before we can get girls moving, we need them to feel comfortable, supported and welcomed.

The report follows 5 primary schools in Leeds as they completed the M2 programmes from Jan - April 2026. Across the board, the report captures the girls becoming kinder to themselves and opening themselves to new people and experiences.

Thank you to Leeds Beckett University Carnegie School of Sport for this report, not only in documenting the impacts M2 make, but valuable feedback and insights on how to to strengthen the programme.

Thank you Jane Tomlinson Appeal for your ongoing support and to the team at Leeds Well Schoolfor being such present and engaged partners.

While the report focusses on Leeds, we've heard similar feedback from our partners in Hull, Derby, Sheffield (Links School Sport Partnership and Lincolnshire (looking at you, fabulous Elite Sports Academy).

We’re proud to share The Hannah Corne Green Futures Fund. We’ve created this fund in memory of our beloved colleague, Hannah, and hope it helps to continue her inspirational legacy.

Hannah was passionate about communities, always striving to make people feel welcome, included and connected. She was infectiously warm and had an immense love for the outdoors. She knew the power of nature to restore and connect people, and was a strong advocate of immersing yourself in the natural world.

In that spirit, The Hannah Corne Green Futures Fund will help to create healthier, greener and more hopeful futures by investing in climate action projects.

From reducing barriers to help people spend more time outdoors and become more active, to investing in work that reduces carbon and protects the environment, and everything in between.

The small grants will offer up to £2,000 for practical and inclusive projects that are rooted in local neighbourhoods and communities in Leeds.

Hannah brought so much joy, compassion and inspiration to our team, and we’re proud that we can share a bit of that with the city she called home.

The Hannah Corne Green Futures Fund will open for applications on 7 September 2026. If you’d like to be notified when it does, please sign up to hear about funding in Leeds: https://www.leedscf.org.uk/sign-up-to-our-newsletter/

Thank for having us Woodhouse Moor parkrun

This week we welcomed the M2 year 3 group from the Holy Name Catholic Voluntary Academy. M2 (previously Mini Mermaids) works with girls to develop mindfulness and movement through an 8-week programme. To celebrate their progress, they completed our parkrun - and look how happy they were!
There's more on Saturday's run from our guest report writer Peter Yates on the website.

Why M2 girls like being physically active ❤️

This year's National School Sports Week celebrates not just sports, but any type of play and movement that brings a child joy.

Totally agree 💯

What movement brings you joy?

Worked together to get each other across the finish line ✅

Thank you to the fab volunteers who cheered the girls on and helped them get around the course.

11 years ago, our first ever UK programme kicked off at Moor Allerton Primary School in Leeds.

Since then, we’ve loved, we’ve raged, we’ve worried, we’ve laughed, we’ve celebrated, we’ve cried.

And we’ve lost. 💔

But even in the hard times, we’ve hoped.

Thank you - to every girl, every coach, every volunteer, every partner, every provider, every funder - for supporting our dream and our mission:

To raise a generation of active girls who take up their rightful space, trust their voice and stand tall in their truth.

“At the start, I was worried, like oh no, what if I fail, what if I fall on the floor … all the bad thoughts, negative thoughts … [now] I feel proud that I am doing this.”

M2 Girl, Leeds

On to Year 12 ❤️
