The 2025 North Leeds Charity Beer Festival raised £16,500 for local Leeds charities. Organised by the Rotary Club of Roundhay, the event combined beer, live music, and family fun, supporting youth projects, community centres, hospices, and local social initiatives across Leeds and beyond.

For decades, we’ve proudly stood alongside Rotary International in the fight to 💉🌎 — and we’re not stopping now 💪🔥

💡 Did you know? When Rotary launched PolioPlus in 1985, polio paralysed 1,000+ children EVERY DAY across 125 countries 😢

Today? Just 2 countries remain endemic 🙌✨ That’s the power of vaccines 💉

But here’s the reality ⚠️ Cutting funding NOW puts millions of children at risk and threatens everything we’ve worked for 😟

🌟 We’re on a mission to reach 12.5 MILLION unvaccinated children worldwide
🌟 Rotary members have already contributed $2.6 BILLION + countless volunteer hours 💙
🌟 Together, we vaccinate 400 MILLION children every year 🌍

It is with deep concern we have heard that the UK government has decided to withdraw its financial support for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).

We are at a critical stage in the campaign to eradicate polio. Loss of financial support for the eradication campaign could have dire consequences.

Rotary International pioneered the campaign to eradicate polio. Our members have given huge amounts of financial, volunteering and advocacy support to this endeavour, and we remain fully committed to the task of eradicating polio as our organisation’s number one humanitarian goal.

🎶 Music, Memories, and Meaningful Connections 🎶

​There is nothing quite like the power of a favorite song to unlock a cherished memory.

​At the Rotary Club of Roundhay, we believe in the power of conversation and the magic of music. Through our "Desert Island Discs" initiative, our members and volunteer friends have been visiting local care homes to do more than just play music—we’re here to listen.

​How it Works:

​The Visit: We sit down with residents to hear their stories—their backgrounds, families, careers, and interests.

​The Discovery: During these chats, we explore the soundtrack of their lives. What songs moved them? What melodies remind them of home?

​The Performance: We return to the home to host a dedicated session, playing those hand-picked tracks and celebrating the residents' unique lives.
​Earlier today, we had a wonderful time with the residents at Elmwood Care Home in Leeds!

​📸 The photo above captures the joy from our session at Gledhow Care Home last week. It is truly a privilege to engage with our local community in such a personal way. Seeing the smiles and hearing the stories behind the songs is truly rewarding.

The Rotary Club of Roundhay in partnership with Ghana Outlook. UK registered charity has helped bring clean, safe water to the rural community of Maasegon in northern Ghana 💧🌍🚰 A new borehole now provides reliable drinking water, replacing unsafe streams and saving hours of daily water collection for families. This improves health, school attendance and opportunity for local people. A great example of Rotary Clubs working together to deliver lasting, sustainable change. 🤝❤️
