Sunshine and Smiles - Leeds Down Syndrome Network Sunshine and Smiles is a support network for families in Leeds with a child or young person with Down Syndrome.

All of our group sessions run at Stainbeck Community Hall, 162 Stainbeck Lane, Leeds, LS7 2EA. We have fortnightly Monday groups for children aged 0-3 years and their parents or carers. We have fortnightly Wednesday groups for children aged 3-5 years and their parents or carers. We have monthly Saturday family groups - everyone is welcome to these sessions. 📣Harewood House Community Access Scheme – Free Entry for Sunshine & Smiles Families!

We’re really pleased to share that Sunshine and Smiles is now a member of the Harewood Community Access Scheme, giving all Sunshine & Smiles families free standard entry to Harewood. 😊

This includes access to the grounds, 🌳gardens 🌻and the main visitor areas, 🛝helping families enjoy time together in a beautiful, welcoming space.

❗Please note that free entry does not include special events or ticketed activities.

A massive thank you to Jack Reid and his friend Joe, who have smashed their £1K target by taking on the Tough Mudder!

During the 15km course, the pair had to endure water, mud, and various obstacles including a field of hanging electrical wires! 💦

A huge well done to both of you 🙏 Thank you for supporting Sunshine and Smiles and helping to ensure we can continue the support and activities for families in Leeds. 💙

Who's up for an outdoor adventure? Join us for our Sunshine and Smiles activity day at the TCV Skelton Grange environment centre on 12th August.

The day will all be based around enjoying & being outdoors; we will be based in a woodland area with hammocks, dens, rope swings & mud kitchen.

The team from Skelton Grange will then take those who want to on mini expeditions - pond dipping, to the sensory herb garden 🍃 and on a nature scavenger hunt. 🐛

🧺Please bring a picnic & drinks for your family and weather appropriate clothing, footwear & sun cream if applicable! If the weather is wet we can use an indoor classroom space at lunchtime.

The day will end with a little campfire in the woods. 🔥

On Saturday 22nd August we are hoping as many of our Sunshine families as possible can join us for a summer get together and picnic. 🌞

🧺Grab some food and a blanket and come and find us on the grass at Temple Newsam from 11:30-13:30. There is also lots of lovely grounds to explore, playgrounds, farm and indoor play barn to visit (2 free with Max card).

We will be meeting on the grass near the playground - look for the Sunshine and Smiles banner 🌞😃

Relaxed Breeze in the Park sessions are back in July and August across Leeds! 🎉

relaxed sessions for children with additional needs who require a quieter session - perfect for young people who struggle with crowds, long queues & sensory overload. But still with all the fun, chills & thrills of the interactive play system, arts zone, fun fair, food & the classic inflatables. 🏰

This summer there are 12 relaxed Breeze in the Park events. All funded by local Community Committee Teams.

🕙Relaxed Session times: 11am – 12noon (you can stay for the 12pm session too)

🎟️Tickets on sale now - Only £1 per child!
Booking is required.

These sessions include;
+ Additional staff on hand to assist
+ Fun children’s entertainment
+ Minimal queueing and crowds

Most of our activities and groups will take a break over the holidays and staff will be working reduced hours, but we do still have a few things going on.....

Everyone is welcome at our Skelton Grange Activity Day and the Sunshine and Smiles summer picnic at Temple Newsam. Our swimming sessions at Bramley Baths continue over the summer as do our online karaoke and yoga sessions.
