This week Curtis has been practicing counting and handling cash with the support of our team, an important part of becoming more confident and independent.

An important update about Café 21 @ Hollybush 💚

After 2 wonderful years at Hollybush, Café 21 will be closing on 25th September as we prepare to move into our new premises at Acclaim House. 🏠

Hollybush has been a truly special home for Café 21, and we are incredibly grateful to the TCV Hollybush team for their support, kindness and collaboration. We hope another organisation will be able to continue running the café and keep this much-loved space thriving for the local community. ☕

We’re pleased that all Café 21 staff at Hollybush will be offered working hours at our new venue or at 21 Co. supporting a positive transition for everyone involved.

Once we move to Acclaim House, we’re excited to develop a community canteen, staffed by our café teams and open when our groups and activities are running — creating a warm, welcoming space for families, young people and adults. 🤗

It’s a new chapter for Sunshine & Smiles, and while we’ll miss Hollybush, we’re excited about what’s ahead. 💛

Here are the stars of our menu this week! ✨

We have the most spectacular looking (and tasting!) Vanilla & Raspberry Sponge Cake 🍰 and the fabulously indulgent Triple Chocolate Cake 🍫 both handmade by our wonderful team 😀

We also have the usual tray bakes and delicious scones.

Plus a homemade tomato and basil soup 🍅

A big thank you to the Friends of Hollybush who recently held a "Chop and Chat" evening workshop with some gorgeous, locally grown rhubarb 🙏

We've put it to good use in our amazing rhubarb and lemon curd cake! 🍰

A lovely, light and refreshing cake perfect for the sunny weather this week ☀️ We think you'll agree it looks scrumptious! Visit us soon to get yourself a slice!

We also have a delicious sweet potato & lentil soup with lemongrass and coconut milk. Plus all of our regular light lunches and drinks. 🥪☕

Wimbledon has arrived and so has our homemade strawberry cake 🍰🎾

Alongside it we've got a lovely selection of freshly made food this week:
🥗 summer salads with hummus or egg mayonnaise,
🍲 Pea, courgette, spinach and mint soup,
and of course our homemade strawberry cake 🍰

Everything is freshly prepared by our team here at the café 👩‍🍳

Every visit helps support our charity and the work we do in training and employing young people with Down syndrome. Thank you for being part of it 💛

Apologies for the late notice, but we'll be closing the café at 1.30pm today.

We're open 'til then with hot and cold drinks and amazing homemade cakes and lunches. 🍰☕Plenty of shaded outdoor seating areas! 😎
