As the festive season approaches, the brilliant team at Women Friendly Leeds is launching a new campaign to help tackle the issue of drink spiking and to keep people safe on nights out.

Stop the Spike is equipping nightlife venues across the city with training and resources to help staff recognise the signs of spiking and respond effectively.

So far, 24 venues have completed the training. It also aims to raise awareness among the public about what to look out for and where to turn for support.

LNEG UPDATE
Progress at the Leeds Night Time Economy Group has been steady but slower than we’d like and we need your help to push things forward. There is a dedicated committee working a lot behind the scenes, but we are all volunteers, LNEG currently has no budgets, and we all have our own business or full time jobs to juggle.

How can you help.
👉 Membership
Dead easy - Becoming a member is the most important way you can support us right now. Membership shows strength in numbers, gives our sector a louder voice, and proves to decision makers that Leeds’ nightlife matters. We know theres well over 150 of you who have expressed interest but so far only 45 who have filled out the form - thats all you need to do. We have our next social at HPBC on Oct 6th and we really want to hit 100 signups by then - please help. signup, come along, free drinks up for grabs too!

Great to attend FFWD: the first session in Leeds as part of the FastForward music conference series, founded by music industry economist Chris Carey. This event was organised in partnership with the West Yorkshire Music Network.

FFWD is all about building a stronger, more sustainable, and empowered music community. Yesterday’s session featured insights from Leeds-based professionals alongside others from across the UK, highlighting the challenges we need to tackle and the opportunities for growth and resilience here in Leeds.

Face-to-face networking and connecting with like-minded people is vital if we want to strengthen the brilliant work already happening and take our city’s music scene to the next level.

Our friends at the West Yorkshire Music Network have teamed up with Fast Forward to bring you FFWDxLEEDS – a new 1-day music conference coming to Belgrave Music Hall on 9th September.

FFWDxLEEDS aims to bridge the gap between local artists and the wider music industry- without requiring a move to London. With a focus on supporting career growth from within the region, the event offers networking, knowledge-sharing, and inspiration for anyone committed to building a long term music career in the North.

To all those who attended our launch event recently we would like to thank you, and for all those who couldn’t make it, we look forward to meeting you in the future.

We’ve been working tirelessly in the background, collating data, meeting with the NTIA, high-level council officials, and even drawing on the expertise of Amsterdams night time Mayor. LNEG’s structure and constitution is now finalised and our free member signup is open (see bio)

Building connections, is of course, a huge part of keeping the night time economy thriving in our city, and we strongly believe in it here at LNEG. So were kicking things off with out first informal social event at Society on the 11th of June.
