On the 14th September Chapel Pie WI are hosting a Talk and Tasting all about Gin. Let’s talk, connect, and enjoy some great gin.

Join us for a relaxed and entertaining gin talk and tasting from The Gin Journey.

The experience will be fully immersive, engaging and, of course, delivered with the signature Gin Journeys personality! We’ll take guests on a journey through the world of gin, combining plenty of information with storytelling, tasting and a bit of fun along the way.

The experience will include:

A Gin & Tonic for each guest on arrival.

A guided tasting of three different gins.

An introduction to each brand, including its story, history and what makes it unique.

An exploration of how gin is made, the botanicals and ingredients used, and how these influence the final liquid.

A little history of gin and how the spirit has evolved and grown around the world.

Plenty of interaction, questions and conversation throughout to make the tasting feel personal and engaging.

Your ticket price covers all of the gin, tonics and of course the experience.

We strive to ensure all attendees feel completely immersed in the world of gin, learn something new, discover some great drinks and, most importantly, have a really enjoyable experience.

Come along, raise a glass and enjoy a fun evening of gin, conversation and community. We’d love to see you there!

Tickets available at : https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1998130869218?aff=oddtdtcreator

Please message [email protected]
If you have any questions. Hope to see you there 🍸

We welcome the Prime Minister's commitment to offer all rough sleepers housing over Christmas. WI members are calling for action to support homeless women through our new campaign, launching soon.

Vulnerable women are often invisible in official figures because they rarely sleep rough. Many spend nights walking, sofa surfing, or remaining with abusive partners rather than sleeping on the streets. The first step must be to count everyone experiencing homelessness.

We are encouraging WI members to write to their local council and urge them to participate in the Rough Sleeping Women's Census. Find out more about the census at Women’s Rough Sleeping Census - Solace Womens Aid and you can contact the Public Affairs team for a letter you can send to your local council.

🌸 A night of paper flowers! 🌸

We had a lovely evening at Chapel Pie WI Craft Club last night, learning how to turn simple sheets of paper into beautiful flowers. βœ‚οΈπŸŒΊ

There was plenty of creativity, chatting and laughter as we each created our own colourful blooms β€” and we were all rather impressed with the results!

A big thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a fun evening. We can’t wait to see what our next craft session brings! πŸ’•βœ¨

A fabulous event to support, but be aware of road closures and restrictions πŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ

IRONMAN Leeds returns on Sunday 16 August, with athletes taking on a 2.4 mile swim of Waterloo Lake in Roundhay Park before gearing up for a 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run course of Roundhay and the surrounding areas.

If you're coming along to cheer on the athletes, make sure to access the spectator guide over on IRONMAN's website.

To help keep athletes and road users safe, road closures and diversions will be in place in and around Roundhay, Alwoodley and Harewood.

Please make sure you plan your journey ahead and get in touch with [email protected] or call 03330 11 66 00 if you have any access questions.

Get spectator information and plan ahead by visiting the link in the comments πŸ‘‡

For anyone with a connection to food πŸ₯—πŸ₯§πŸ₯˜πŸž

What does food mean to you?

The WI Magazine wants to hear from members and WIs with a strong connection to food. Are you a chef, a food scientist, a professional baker, a cafe owner? Your WI might organise a community cafΓ©, fundraise for food charities, teach classes in local schools or volunteer to make meals for the homeless.
Perhaps you're a massive foodie: food is a way of sharing your culture, expressing love, or a way of connecting with the natural world. Maybe you go on food-based holidays, or run your WI’s cooking or baking sub-group.

Whatever role food plays in your life, we want to hear about it – send an email with FOOD in the subject line to [email protected] by August 25th.
