Our first baby bundle is already here!

Thank you so much for these generous donations!

Emma and Hannah from our Allocations team will be gifting this to a new mum, joining us in a LATCH property very soon.
They’ll help the new family to get settled in, before beginning work with our dedicated Support team.
Being able to make practical, thoughtful gestures like these baby bundles can go such a long way towards building trust and safety, as people begin to rebuild their lives with LATCH’s support.

We have 3 pregnant women and 2 brand new mums with tiny babies moving in to LATCH homes between now and the end of September.

In Scotland baby boxes are given to all expectant mums with a few essentials in. We want to put together a few boxes with essentials in for these mums, just like the Scottish baby boxes.

But we will put the items inside baby baths not boxes, as most will be on water meters using a baby bath isn't just safer it saves on water bills.

👋Meet The Team👋

Cerys is the first point of contact at LATCH, the friendly, helpful, knowledgeable voice you’ll hear when you call the office or ring our doorbell.

She’s not been with us that long but settled in and got to know the tenants, the team and the streets we work on straight away.

Cerys came from working in the funeral business, so she’s calm and compassionate especially with emotional situations.

With her additional duties as the foodbank coordinator, she is the person who knows the tenants needs and ensures a fair distribution even when supplies are limited.

Thanks for all you do Cerys! 👏

Its bike fix Sunday again this week at LATCH’s Coach House. For all you that don’t know, Bike Fix Sunday is bike repair workshop that is run by volunteers and serves the local community. We are open from 2pm until 5pm on the last Sunday of every month. or simply pop down and see our amazing and dedicated volunteers.
It’s a pay as you feel service. So basically, if you’ve got no cash we will be happy to help you out for free, but if you can help and donate then this keeps us in parts and keeps us going.
Our mechanics will encourage you to get involved, so you don’t only take away a fixed bike, but you will have some new skills and knowledge. What’s not to like??!!

Our support room at LATCH has had a refresh over the weekend, and is now a more therapeutic, trauma informed environment where tenants can feel safe, welcomed and comfortable to open up and be supported.

By removing the bulky desk the physical and mental barrier between provider and client is removed and a more collaborative equal space is now in it's place.

Trauma informed design seeks to create spaces that are calming,
comfortable, soothing to all five senses and not re-traumatizing or reminiscent of past traumatic environments.
By using a trauma informed approach to design, we can greatly improve the outcomes for people using these spaces.

What a beauty! Another empty house to home done, the new tenant has moved in and is settling in well, this calming, cosy, freshly decorated space should be the perfect place to call home, relax in and take some steps towards healing after an extremely difficult time.

It was a shell that needed a lot of work, new central heating system, new doors, new floors, new kitchen, new bathroom, insulation, plastering, rewiring ... the works!

Reviving empty homes isn't easy, quick or cheap but we think it's worth it and so do the 100's of homeless people we house every year.

This project is done in terms of the building but the support work has just begun, this will be her home for as long as she needs it, and what a lovely home it is!
