OPAL (Older People's Action in the Locality)

Happy and happy ! At OPAL and the Welcome In Community Centre & Cafe we love supporting and helping the older people in our community. We also love having a singalong and a boogie whenever we can! From dancing with THE Mr Motivator, singing in the pub, to listening to some of the amazing performers we’ve had, it’s easy to see the joy that music brings to everyone!

We had a great crafty time at the social today!

We made miniature hand decorated people as part of the ‘People of Leeds’ project, with materials, instruction and inspiration from Skippko. This is a Leeds 400 project during 2026 celebrating the 400th anniversary of Leeds receiving its first Royal Charter from King Charles I. This historic moment marked the beginning of Leeds’ journey towards self-governance and city status.

All the characters will go on display in Leeds City Museum from December 26 to April 27.

Are you able to help us provide transport for our members?
Regular or ad-hoc volunteering available!

We are looking for volunteer driver to help us bring members to their exercise classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and help bringing members to our lunch club on Fridays!

A fun afternoon of games with ping pong balls at our social on Friday! Lots of laughing and lots of chaos!

Yesterday was our annual volunteer celebration event! We had homemade pizza and veggie chilli, as well as plenty of cake, all followed with a quiz and some musical entertainment. Thank you so much to all our volunteers, we couldn’t do what we do without your help and support 💙
