We’re excited for tomorrow where we’ll be celebrating 10 years of Leeds YAC! Former members, friends and interested members of the community are welcome to pop in from 11.15, join in activities and see some of the things we get up to. We couldn’t have run the club without the commitment and enthusiasm of all our volunteers over the years…so huge thank you to you all!

Ha-ha!

We hope you've all had fabulous summer holidays!

The provisional earth resistance results are in! Some of the black anomalies do seem to line up with the possible ha-ha, and may represent stones beneath the surface.

We've also had some interesting responses from the GPR! The depths of the curved parabolas (the "responses") seem to indicate buried solid objects (stones?) at different depths in different parts of the survey; again some of these, especially on the left hand side in this case, may correlate with the ha-ha!

Can you think of other techniques we can use to find out if we have a ha-ha!?

Last month we learnt all about flots!
The sorting and collecting of environmental data, which can sometimes also reveal other hidden finds... Can you find our arrowhead?!
Normally charred plants, can tell is about what people were eating, using for fuel and the natural surrounding landscape at the time of human activity.

Look out in your comms for more ways we can discover about what once existed where we stood!

We had a great time at Middleton Railway. We were honoured to be given a tour of the museum by Charles Milner, chairman of the Middleton Railway! He was so full of knowledge!

We also looked at the practical inspiration and ambition for the world"s first successful steam train... The mining works of Middleton Park!

What was your Young Archaeologists' favourite fact?!
