Leeds City Forum Welcome to the Leeds City Forum — a hub for conversation about sport, business, entertainment and news affecting daily work life. Community Development.

Welcome to the Leeds Community Forum. Leeds is an amazing city, there is something for everyone to see and things to do. We love Leeds and we're proud to live in Leeds. Leeds originated as an Anglo-Saxon township on the north bank of the Aire. It grew as a local market centre and was incorporated in 1626. By then the town was a cloth-finishing centre for a wide area where domestic weaving, introdu

ced by 14th-century Flemish weavers, was pursued. Local Economic Empowerment Development Strategy. Rate it: LEEDS. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Standards. Natives of Leeds are known as Loiners and there are several theories as to the origin of the term but nobody can be certain where the word comes from. Loiner could derive from the name Loidis (in use by the eighth century for the district around modern-day Leeds). The hub of Leeds' Civic Quarter is the pedestrian area known as Leeds City Square, famous for its numerous statues. These include figures of the Black Prince and inventor James Watt. Nearby is Joseph Priestley Church, as well as the spectacular Leeds Town Hall, consecrated in 1858 by Queen Victoria. Leeds is a busy, exciting city filled with hotels, bars and restaurants but we're also a stone's throw away from some of the world's most beautiful landscapes and countryside. We're also very close to some of Yorkshire's top historical sites such as Fountains Abbey and the city of York. For frequently asked questions, please visit www.leedsstar.co.uk

The Leeds Affordable Housing Strategy 2026-2036 was signed off by the council’s executive board and sets out a long-term vision for meeting housing need through innovation, partnership working and investment. It builds on the success of the council’s previous housing growth action plan, under which almost 1,900 affordable homes were delivered in Leeds between 2022 and 2025.
