We’ve had an amazing time this summer delivering a vibrant mix of activities for people of all ages across our community. It’s been brilliant to see so many of you getting involved, trying new things, and helping us make good things happen here.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in, volunteered, or supported us — your energy is what makes this place special.

As a small charity with a small team, we’re taking a well‑earned break for the rest of August. We’ll be back in September, refreshed and ready for a busy season of weekly activities.

Enjoy the rest of the summer — we can’t wait to see you again soon.

Read to the Beat - The Rap School

1.30pm-2.30pm, Monday 3rd August
Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library
Celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge

Join world champion rapper Rob Bradley for an interactive rap workshop celebrating this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. Participants will watch a live freestyle rap performance where they can give random words to Rob and see him turn them into rhymes on the spot. They will then explore how to find rhymes and rap on beat, before taking inspiration from their favourite books to write and perform their own rap. No experience needed and participants can get as involved as they wish.

A pay-what-you-decide family friendly event recommended for
children aged 6+. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Delivered by Hunslet + Belle Isle Community Project and kindly funded by National Lottery Community Fund and Leeds Federated Housing, this session is part of our ongoing work to bring more playful opportunities to public spaces across Hunslet and Belle Isle.

These events have become hugely popular — and we’re excited to bring another one to the square.

Drop in anytime between 1030am-12noon and stay for as long as you like. Activities include:
Water play
Sand pit
Chalk art
Craft activitiy
Den building
Bubbles
Lego + other construction play

Sports activities

Children must be accompanied by an adult — and we hope you’ll enjoy playing together.

Hunslet Square, located between Church Street and Whitfield in front of Hunslet Community Hub & Library (next to Morrisons) and Involve Community Centre, has been transformed over recent years into a vibrant community space. Wildflower beds, new seating and colourful play markings have already been installed, with more improvements on the way.

Alongside the main play event The Big Bike Fix will offer free simple bike repairs — bring any bike that needs a little TLC and get it ready for the summer holidays.

Come and join us for an action‑packed morning of good spirited FREE fun. Please come along, bring the kids, and help spread the word to family, friends and neighbours.
