Gardening tips for winter 🦠

Winter is a great time to get some mulch on your soil to keep it moist and protected against the frosts, as well as being fed by the mulch as it rots down.

Just spread a layer of organic matter such as leaves, hay, woodchip or compost onto your beds in the garden and rest in the knowledge your soil is being nourished under a blanket over the winter.

Black & redcurrant bush pruning, late crocus & daffodil bulb planting, mulching our rhubarb & gooseberries, planning a new deadhedge section..

All in one lucky dry hour in-between the downpours! ☔️

Finished off with fish & chip feast, banana bread and ice cream to refuel 🔥 and thank our hardy volunteers / celebrate the start of our 7th (!!) year keeping this public site in Woodhouse thriving, fruitful and welcoming for all who pass by or live locally!
