On 25 May 1963, Africa made history with the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) the precursor to the African Union (AU).

Today is dedicated to recognising the rich cultures, histories and contributions of African nations and communities around the world. It is a time to reflect, learn and celebrate diversity, creativity and resilience 💫

RJC Dance Summer Dance Camp is back this July, offering a fun, energetic week of dance for young people aged 9–17. Whether your child is new to dance or already loves to move, this is a great way to build confidence, make friends and learn new skills. Places are free, but limited, so don’t miss out.

“It's normalised to do ‘get ready with me’ videos or dances, but it's not normalised to talk about mental health.”

Young people deserve spaces where their mental health is supported and they can build community, explore their creativity, and find their voice.

We spoke with one of the young dance members at RJC Dance about Shahck Out Speak Out, mental health stigma and their experience of the wellbeing workshops delivered by Youth In Mind.

Mental Health Awareness Week (11-17 May) is all about taking action. Alice* has bravely shared her story and in doing so, is taking a stand against the mental health stigma that we still see so much of. The more we talk, the more we change we make.

Affirmations are positive, present-tense statements repeated regularly to challenge negative thoughts, build self-esteem and foster a positive mindset.
