Did you know that HM The King isn't the only Royal supporter of the UK's Cadet organisations?

Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal is not only our Patron, she also holds the title of Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps.

Princess Anne has a long standing connection to the Royal Navy and its Cadet Forces, and continues to support their work with young people, recognising the positive effect being a Sea Cadet has on young people's lives.

We celebrate the very first National Cadet Week!

We want to say a huge thank you to every single person who makes our unit what it is. Our amazing cadets, dedicated adult volunteers, instructors, parents, families and everyone who supports us behind the scenes.

To our cadets, we are incredibly proud of you and everything you continue to achieve. Your commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to challenge yourselves is what makes our unit so special.

We are also honoured to share a message from His Majesty King Charles III as part of National Cadet Week, recognising the dedication and contribution of cadets and adult volunteers across the country.

Notice Is Hereby Given that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of City Of Leeds Sea Cadet Unit (TS Ark Royal) will be held at the Leeds Sea Cadets, Thwaite Lane, Stourton, Leeds, LS10 1RN on Wednesday 21st October 2026 at 19:00 to conduct the following business.

AGENDA
1. Apologies for absence
2. Opening address or comments by Chairperson
3. Minutes of the last AGM for approval
4. Matters arising from minutes of the last AGM (22nd October 2025)
5. Unit Chairperson’s Report
6. Commanding Officer’s Report
7. Treasurer’s Report and adoption of accounts
8. Election/Re-election of the Unit Management Team (UMT)
9. Any Other Business

• Election of the Unit Management Team (UMT) trustees – Individuals who are seeking election to the UMT must have their nomination proposed and seconded.

• Nominations can only be accepted if they are submitted on the official nomination form which can be obtained from Mrs L Brunton via email on [email protected] or in person during Monday or Thursday parade nights 19:00 – 21:00 at Leeds Sea Cadets unit. Forms will be available from Monday 5th September 2026. Only fully completed forms will be accepted. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.

• The criteria as to who is eligible to sit on the UMT can be found in the unit’s charity constitution (SCSC). Please contact Mrs L Brunton for details.

• Any waiving of these criteria is at the discretion of the Volunteer & Business Support Manager (VBSM).

• Fully completed nomination forms need to be received by Tuesday 20th October 17:00

• All newly elected UMT trustees will be required to complete a disclosure application, complete a P1 form – application to join Sea Cadets which includes a Trustee Declaration indicating that they know of no reason why they cannot become a charity trustee, complete online e-learning courses within two months and an Induction to sea cadets within 6 months of joining.
Note: Any Other Business – Items of AOB will only be considered if they are proposed and seconded in writing to Mrs L Brunton at least 24 hours before the meeting.

⚓️ West Yorkshire Lord Lieutenant’s Awards ⚓️

It was a proud moment as a Commanding Officer to attend the West Yorkshire Lord Lieutenant’s Awards in Huddersfield, with HM Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Adeeba Malik CBE, in attendance to see AC Ford from our unit appointed as one of the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for West Yorkshire.

This is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful recognition of AC Ford’s commitment, dedication and leadership within the Sea Cadets.

From all of us at your home unit, congratulations! We are incredibly proud of you and wish you every success in this prestigious role. 👏⚓️
