πŸ₯„ A small spoon could save a life this summer.

Summer holidays bring a heightened risk of child marriage, as children are sometimes taken abroad with little warning and forced into marriage.

One simple trick: hiding a small metal spoon in clothing can set off airport metal detectors - offering a final chance to ask for help, away from those travelling with them.

We know of real cases where this has helped young people get to safety.

πŸ”Ž Know the signs. Trust your instincts. If you suspect a child is at risk of forced marriage, don't wait.

Everyone can help challenge harmful behaviours πŸ•ŠοΈ

Honour Based Abuse is not a cultural tradition or religious practice; it is a form of abuse that can occur within any community, regardless of faith or background. Abuse is abuse – no matter who the perpetrator is or how they justify it.

Recognising these behaviours and challenging them is an important step in breaking the cycle and protecting future generations. 'Honour'-based abuse is recognised in UK law, and confidential support is available.

Today Naz Mahmood β€” a much-loved GP and co-founder of a successful chain of clinics. From the outside, he had everything a person could need. Medical colleagues. A profession that talks about mental health for a living. An organisation he'd helped build himself.

Despite his professional success and a loving relationship of 13 years with Matt, Naz tragically took his own life in July 2014 after revealing his sexuality to his family. He'd spent years hiding this, afraid of how they'd react.

Matt set up the Naz and Matt Foundation in his memory, to help others facing similar struggles with religious and cultural homophobia. He's also a member of the Survivor Ambassador Panel, working to raise awareness and support for those affected.

Naz, today and always πŸ•ŠοΈ
